I personally hate the ergonomics of glocks. They are, however, fantastic firearms.

Love my HK vp9 though. 5.7 a close second.

Same.

If we're talking strictly about "shootability" my money is always on a good 1911. My Pilot Mountain Arms is my current favorite. I don't shoot any other pistol I own more accurately than that one.

I’ll add some trivia in here: So long as the firing pin is intact the SAA I posted earlier can be made to go bang. Every spring and surface in the action can be broken and the user can still manually get the gun to fire. Try that with a Glock

There are also gun writers who claim that no gun is faster for the first shot from a holster than the old Colt. YMMV

Glocks can fire with a broken trigger spring, and IIRC it will still reset if the gun is held upside down otherwise you can manually reset the trigger each shot. I believe you can also fire one with a broken recoil spring by manually racking the slide for each round.

If we were holding 2 guns with broken parts like I mentioned then yes, I would want the SAA because I think I would win.

Obviously with loaded magazines the auto has an advantage since the gun is sorta ‘pre-loaded’. But what if your magazines weren’t loaded for whatever reason? If we start out with 2 unloaded guns and unloaded magazines, what then? It becomes more interesting.

Fun thought exercise!

Maybe mechanical is what you meant. I don't know.

No - he doesn't consider "automatic" safety features safeties at all.

Therefore if it isn't a manual switch, latch, button, what have you, he doesn't recognize them. I forget how crazy he is on revolvers, but on automatics, the more "safeties" for AlxTiger to undo before he fires, the better, in his opinion.

So basically, what would happen if we stacked the deck in the revolver's favor.

Honestly, I thought he was just trying to troll me a bit.

I didn't think people actually believed what he posted.

Now I'm sad.

.357 revolver. You can put .38 in them so the wife can handle it.

Hollow points.

That is a bullheaded attitude... And also completely right.

It is an excellent first gun, and even if it isnt your favorite, it's nice to have in the stable.

Yup, G19 is my first, and still my favorite.

All things being equal if I had a pocket full of loose rounds and had to load them then get rounds on target I would prefer to put 4-5 rounds in a mag rather than individually load a cylinder of a revolver. Unless I was facing jerry mickeluck then I would just load one and shoot myself...

When I got my first pistol last year, I bought a Glock 45. Which is a cross between a 17 and a 19. I really like the gun. However, I have bought a few since then. A Sig 226 and a Sig M11 A1. Both are DA/SA which I love. I also own a Sig P320 XCarry. It's a much better shooting gun in my opinion that the Glock. The Glock just doesn't fit my hand as well as the Sigs.

I'm pretty new to guns, but after shooting a few, you will be able to figure out which guns fit you best. The grip angle of the Glock does not allow me to point it well.

They are not. They are anti-litigation devices. Basically, all those are doing are preventing the gun from firing when it's not supposed to. A true safety prevents the gun from firing when it is supposed to. This is very simply and I know you are educated enough to understand this.

Now that's an interesting spin to avoid admitting that you were wrong.
