What does it save/gain .02 MPG??

It actually can be significant, dependant on the engine design of course. It takes a lot of effort to pump viscous oil. Multiply that by a few hundred thousand vehicles and it adds up.

The lightweight miracle juice is fine as long as the engine is designed for it.

I have a '22 toyota tundra.

I got the call last week that I'm getting a new engine installed in a couple of weeks. 55k miles and no issues but I will happily take it.

Bit of a pain in the arse to be without it for a week but I'm hoping to get a truck rental for the week.

I’ve got a 24 GMC with a 5.3 that’s in the shop for the 4th time.

Traded in an 18 Chevy with a 5.3 with 160k miles on it whose only maintenance was oil changes and tires.

Kicking myself over that. I’m not taking it home with me when the repairs are done this time.

Yeah I have a 2WD 2016 Tundra. I’d love 4WD and I often get the itch to shop, but I have no confidence in any of the trucks being made anymore. Of the new trucks I’d likely opt for the ecoboost. It probably won’t last 150k but neither will the AFM V8s, and at least the eco boost is fun to drive. But $80k for a truck that I have no long term confidence in is pretty crazy.

My wife drives a late 2024 Yukon Denali 6.2. It’s not being recalled. I guess they had it figured out by the time it was built.

I got rid of a 2008 Tundra to get one of the new ones but then they had the recall. Since then, I've gone full circle to Ford, GM, RAM and back to Toyota trying to decide what to get. They all seem to have problems and it's a roll of the dice. I was set on a Chevrolet ZR2 or Trail boss and then this 6.2 news hit.

So my question for anyone who knows - how is the 3.0 baby diesel in the GMC/Chevrolets? Would anyone recommend or steer me away from a ZR2 or Trail Boss with the 3.0 instead of the 6.2? The ZR2 doesn't come in the 5.3 - but the Trail Boss does. I think I'm too concerned with the 6.2 to go that route now.

I was mainly looking at the off-road trims. GMC At4, Ford Tremor, Toyota TRD Pro or the limited with the TRD package, Ram Rebel, or Chevy Trailboss/Zr2

I have a 2022 GMC AT4 with the 3.0 Baby DuraMax. 57,000 trouble-free miles. Everyone I know that has one loves it. You will get slightly better fuel mileage in a SLT or other non-AT4 model.

I had an 04 Silverado with the Vortec. It was bulletproof. Wish I still had the truck.

Might want to google the oil pump belt on these.

They’ll also give every engine a higher-viscosity oil

Pro tip: when your factory warranty runs out, do this anyways. I hate 0W-20 oil, shite is barely thicker than water. It’s especially bad on the engines that switch from V-4 to V-8. It’s so thin that it runs off the lifters when in v-4 mode and when it switches back to v-8 the lifters are essentially dry firing and it wears them out faster.

I use 5w-30 after the warranty runs out. I’ve never had engine trouble and have had several GM trucks go over 200k miles.

Hell in the GMC trucks I run on the farm I just use 15w-40 out of the oil bulk tank for the tractors. Got a 2016 with 320,000 miles and a 2018 with 215,000 miles both original engines no issues whatsoever
