Bobby garland slab runners and various tail colors. Nice ultra light and rod, load with power pro. Kid can catch anything that swims in marsh or swamp.

I gotta go with the lifetime license. Got them for my kids a long time ago When they were young. It’s not a gift, it’s a legacy he’ll appreciate for the rest of his life.

I have the catcher's mitt..... the pliers that come with it are awesome. Specks fall right out if the glove.

Yeah, I have the original which has an actual glove. No issues with holding the fish. I saw one with a mitt at the outdoor show and did not like the fit of the oven mitt style glove.

Really good idea. Also, I'd recommend a good filet knife.

If I’m fishing specks in open water I’m using a spinning reel, if I’m casting to structure or piling I use a bait caster. Since I fish both fresh and saltwater, I only buy saltwater type reels now for corrosion resistance. You still have to wash them off every time..

Make plans for an inshore charter and tell him he can bring a friend and the friends dad.. just make sure it’s not in the heat of summer and you let the charter captain know ahead of time it’s a trip for the boys. For a Plus the friends dad will probably pitch in or if he doesn’t just enjoy anyway.

Something small as an addition to his gift would be a subscription to his favorite fishing magazine. A charter fishing trip would be amazing!

If he's 12, he's likely old enough to be given some prized fishing gear that's important to you. If you have one. Favorite reel, old tackle box, pocket knife, etc.

If you can email me: fishingfloridaradio@gmail.com by this Saturday with name & address where tackle packs can be sent without his knowing they are there I’ll have packs sent to you from tackle product sponsors. Good job getting him involved in the outdoors
