You have no clue what you are talking about. What people in Louisiana and Mississippi refer to as Mexican duck/Mexican tree ducks are black bellied whistling ducks.

Black bellied whistling duck/Mexican tree duck

I've always called them Mexican Squealers. but you're still right.

No I do. I just not an ignorant shite like you. Look up Anas diazi. The other things are the Black Bellied and Fulvous Tree ducks. I am familiar with them because they covered the lakes in our subdivisions in Houston. It's no wonder our country is headed down the tubes with chodes like you.

Hardly any ducks at our place this year. Buddy says there’s about a thousand mallards at our duck hole right now.

Wouldn’t that negatively affect breeding pairs?

1983 had brutal cold as did 1989 during duck season.

83 was the one that killed several hunters.

Thats when Bruce?Stire (Stire Office Supply) and his hunting buddy froze within sight of the end of the road in Bayou DuLarge. Their boat had broke down or sunk and the poor fellows froze in the marsh trying to walk out.

We were walking the marsh near when the front blew through. The temperature plummeted and the marsh froze in the daytime.

What does Anas diazi have to do with what they were talking about? You assumed they were talking about Anas diazi, but they weren’t. The poster you even quoted told you what they were talking about.

Sorry baw, not all of us have the time and energy to learn scientific names. I had never heard someone call a bass a green trout before college. I wouldn’t have had a clue what they were talking about before I was told. Same goes for Sacalait. Different regions call shite different then others sometimes. “Water moccasin” could mean several different species, and even different families depending on who is saying it. I have probably heard 6 different names referring to Norther Shovelers.

So, I live on a bayou with bean fields behind me turning into rice at the very back. Used to seeing lots of ducks back there. This afternoon, ducks started flying out into the crop fields and landing on dry land not far from foot's back yard.

Which is why it closes when it does, and why the public doesn't get to influence a later season.

I’m seeing that too. They are landing in dry cornfields that were left. Have been seeing them land in wheat fields too. I have a little open water around here, and they are bouncing from water to dry fields or flooded corn that is frozen over.

This afternoon a juvi eagle started hunting them. Pretty amazing to watch. Thousands of ducks getting up and flying in a panic.
