Oh how cute, pits are just like rabbits.

Some dumb shite in this thread. Ive lived in the same house with one and it was a great dog. That same dog later in life attacked a kid. Just because you've owned one for 2 years doesnt mean you know everything about the breed.

It never fails. I don't even read these threads anymore. I just like to pass through and leave a few turds.

People are ignorant about dogs. People who aren't strong willed enough to own a Schnauzer owning pit bulls (or just about any other large dog) and treating it like just another harmless dog is irresponsible as hell and flat out stupid, regardless of what their personal experience with the breed is.

The aggressive strong breeds scare me. Their primal instinct to kill is what bothers me. Sorry I am a puss - PB, GS, Chow. Rot, Dobe, scare me.

I had an Akita make me piss my pants. If he could have broken the glass door, I'd have died. Either from blood loss or heart attack.

Yeah my buddy had an American that was the prototypical sweetest dog ever till his future wife moved in.

He had to shoot it.

Thats why the 5-10 posters that always take up for their dog carry no weight with me. I was around that dog for years and he was a baby/lapdog. Any dog can turn, but you hear more about them than any other and they are capable of doing more damage when they do.

Everyone should own a south african boerboel, it would keep the crime rate down.

Or a German Shepherd Dog, also known as the perfect breed.

One of those bastards attacked me as a kid....but he'd been the perfect "pet" for the old aunt that owned him. Then he attacked another victim a month or so later. Got put down.

I've never owned a pit nor will I ever. If I see one in my yard while my dogs or kids are out collared or not I will kill it.

Like others have said, they can be a great pet but they can decide without aggitation to attack someone or something in an instant regardless of how they've been brought up.

It's just an animal that you have to understand and respect. You can't let your kids play with it or climb on it, you can't let it run wild, and it has know 100% without a doubt who the boss is.

They are great pig dogs and are capable of being good pets for an adult who knows what they are doing.

Probably wasn't socialized and came from bad breeding. I've had GSDs my entire life and they've always acted like they're supposed to act around strangers, kids, dogs...aloof. They won't go running up to lick a child like a Golden but they'll sit there patiently as the kid comes up and pets/beats on them.

My baby brother has a 3 inch long scar on his face (after 3 plastic surgeries) thanks to a german shepherd.

I've got one loose in my neighborhood right now as we speak that's barking at everyone he sees and scaring the meter readers. He's gonna get the chance to live because I just called animal control. My neighbor called the sheriffs dept prior to that apparently. Everyone on the street has a pistol out. lol

It's the new neighbors dog apparently. He's lucky we're gonna let it live because he'll come right at you barking his head off in your own yard but you can tell he's bluffing.

Don't really care. I just don't want him there when the school bus rolls up.

I may be sorry and should let it die, but boundaries are boundaries.

A responsible owner who properly maintains and controls his pit bull poses no problem to anybody. It's the irresponsible owners, and those to defend irresponsibility, such as...
quote:

My rules:

1. Any a-hole shooting .22LR at dogs from his front porch in a residential area gets a .22CB in his rear haunch. Repeat offenders get a .22LR in the ball sack or vaginal lip.
So you're ok with stray pit bulls running the neighborhood?
quote:

2. Any douche bag wannabe operator who shows aggression towards me by approaching me with an un-holstered pistol while I'm walking my dog in my neighborhood gets my pit bull sic'd on him, is bitch slapped and disarmed or is reported to the police for brandishing their firearm for no fricking reason.
Uh-huh. I'll believe it when I see it. You'll just stomp, yell and complain like a little kid, then call the cops just like other tough-guy pit bull owners I've dealt with. No biggie. Just a hint, most foot LEOs hate pit bulls and will side with me protecting my children...especially when I'm calm, professional and articulate while the pit bull owner is always upset, irrationally yelling and flailing their arms in the air in self-righteous indignation.

[clarification: when I have my pistol out, I keep it behind my thigh so the dog owner cannot see it. I smile & I'm polite when I ask them to keep a 10-foot berth. The owner gladly complies 85% of the time. Only when an owner get confrontational does the pistol come out in plain view. But I allow them to be an arse first.]

And what part of my kid was bitten by a leashed pit bull did you not understand? Are you just THAT lousy of a parent? Or do you just not care about kids? Maybe pit bulls over kids?
quote:

"Coastie, don't be such a pussy. If you're this scared of a dog I'm surprised you leave the house. Gonna suck for your kid when he grows up too. I bet your the over protective type of parent. shelter shelter shelter!
You obviously don't follow this board much. One of my boys saw more action at age 16 than you will in your entire life. I'd be more concerned about protecting you from my kids!
quote:

I bet your voting for the gun ban too. They kill people, right.
Re-read what I already posted: "Unlike a .45 pistol, [pit bulls] have legs, a brain, and an independent will." Big difference.

You're doing a fine job of reinforcing "typical pit bull owner" stereotypes.

Let's move on to something we agree about, like cool OB stuff, esp SpiceyStacey and talk shite about women we know we really can't do anything with when we're married.

Well animal control came out but they stood around for an hour looking too scared to catch him. Don't know if they did or not but I don't see the dog or hear it now so I assume they did. The deputy that came out couldn't get out of his car and every time he moved the car that dog charged it barking his head off with his hackles up.

Didn't hear any shots so new neighbors dog is either back in his fence or down at the pound and lesson learned I guess. Glad we didn't have to kill the guys dog but there were four of us out there with pistols watching the show for awhile.

LOL! Well I hope I don't have to and they actually caught the dog or got it put back up. But if it makes a run at the kids he's getting glocked.

I'd hate to have my first time meeting this neighbor be because I had to shoot his damn dog.
