re: "dangerous" dog breeds

Those breeds don't have the capacity to kill that the pit has. The dog most likely to bite at our guck club is a damn mountain cur cross...if you're a stranger, don't turn your back to her...but she only kills varmints, not other pets , children, or adults.

No, they kill toddlers and children. No drama at all, just reality.
I wouldn't enter the home or yard of one with my children.

Pit defenders think a Daisy BB gun and a 7 mag are the same caliber. I mean they both shoot people and all

It's both, but the pit bull breed was bred be aggressive fighting dogs. A retreiver's instinct is to retrieve, a hound's instinct is to track, a pit bull's instinct is to fight.
I'd rather start with a dog that's had the aggressiveness bred out of it rather than try to take one that was bred to be aggressive and make it docile. Recipe for disaster, as we so often see.

Pit bulls might serve a purpose, but like prisons and landfills I don't want any of them in my neighborhood.

A good friend has one for a catch dog...he's a damn good one. But he knows what he is(though he's docile) and handles him accordingly.

Given the population disparity, you literally are hundreds of times more likely to get killed by a pit versus a lab.
that is all too obvious...point was I stated earlier that there are more lab bite % per total number of them as compared to pits...I never argued there were as many deaths by labs as pits...I also stated that a pits bite is much more destructive and that's why there are more deaths and hence more media attention...

The Rhodesians that I have seen are all big pussies. They are easily scared and normally go hide in another room when something goes down. Every one that I have interacted with still had it's nuts to

I dated a lady who had one. The thing turned on me more than once for nothing more than trying to get it to go outside. I rarely dislike individual dogs, but I disliked that one.

I wouldn't enter a home or yard without a gun if they had a pit bull.

My rules:
1. Unlike other breeds, any pit bull or chow on my property (with or without a collar is dead). Unlike other breeds, there is no discussion with the owner. One strike, it's out.
2. Any stray pit bull (with or without collar) on the street in front of my place gets a .22 CB in the rear haunch. Repeat offenders get a .22LR to the gut or chest cavity.
3. If my wife or kids are with me on a walk and a leashed pit bull comes by. Pistol is unholstered and held down by my thigh, and the owner is advised to keep dog 10 feet from my children. (did this just 2 weeks ago).
4. If I'm walking down the street and someone's pit bull runs off their property to "greet" me in the street, it catches a bullet. No warning will be given.
Yeah, I piss people off, but tough shite. I had a kid receive a severe bite to the thigh in situation #3 above. Owner was not trashy, and animal seemed totally calm and was not provoked in any way...it just saw a kid walking by and it snapped.
It won't happen again.
Folks are free to have what they want, so long as it's on their own property or otherwise under total control. Unlike a .45 pistol, these things have legs, a brain, and an independent will.

I'm with you. If one came to my street it'll be sleeping with the fishes. I don't want one within a block of my kids. Sorry. I have zero tolerance for those animals.

I have a American that wouldn't hurt a fly . If you talk to loud around her she runs off . She is very timid around strangers but that's it . My three year old rides her like a horse . I don't know that I have ever seen or owned a aggressive American . And I have had several

My rules:
1. Any a-hole shooting .22LR at dogs from his front porch in a residential area gets a .22CB in his rear haunch. Repeat offenders get a .22LR in the ball sack or vaginal lip.
2. Any douche bag wannabe operator who shows aggression towards me by approaching me with an un-holstered pistol while I'm walking my dog in my neighborhood gets my pit bull sic'd on him, is bitch slapped and disarmed or is reported to the police for brandishing their firearm for no fricking reason.
Coastie, don't be such a pussy. If you're this scared of a dog I'm surprised you leave the house. Gonna suck for your kid when he grows up too. I bet your the over protective type of parent. shelter shelter shelter!
I bet your voting for the gun ban too. They kill people, right.

Yeah I'm not a pit fan but if you pull a gun on me the dog is the least of your problems.

I see what your trying to do here, but this only proves that you are an irresponsible gun owner. You're insinuating that a BB is harmless because it is a slower moving smaller projectile, and that a 7mag is extremely dangerous. All guns should be treated with the same respect because each has the potential to do serious/fatal damage.
