i had a bmc a few years ago and it was an awesome dog. i love that breed.

with that said, she would bite a stranger and was more aggressive than my "dangerous" breed dog we have discussed

I've got a male that I rescued from the pound so he got his nuts cut off before I got him. He's a love sponge. But if someone comes around that he doesn't know or he picks up on a vibe off of my family that dude is about to be shitting himself to get away from that dog.

Stranger that aren't threatening he loves. He just cues off of you.

The dog damn near reads minds. I've never had a smarter dog than this one and I've had a Jack Russel.

I'm sure your pit is harmless, but it confuses me how pit owners seem to refuse to admit that the breed is dangerous

it is not some conspiracy that news agencies only report pit attacks

i agree they can do more damage than most dogs due to their strength.

you are right, all hail AlxTgr

i use mine for a purpose and keep tabs on her behavior. she serves her purpose and just happens to be the sweetest dog i have owned.

it's not because of the pit attack...it's because of the damage inflicted...

Labs bite more people annually than pits do...they just don't usually destroy who they bite.

i agree and i hate that. they are different than a lab and you have to watch them. i am a firm believer in a bullet for a viscious dog.

mine took a miller lite bottle in her mouth and bit down on it. the bottle shattered, i then knew her jaws are strong.

she will catch or bay a hog. that is her purpose.

she also will not let a stranger in my yard unless i meet them at the gate. she will lay in my lap as i watch football games and drink beer. might be crazy but all that is what i expect in a dog

You're lying and if you're not, is the dog still available? I would be willing to pay for it.

Not being argumentative, but you claim how gentle and loving yet you state they need to be watched.

Then you say she shows no aggression towards people yet you must intervene when people want in your yard.

What happens when she gets a cataract and confuses a toddler for another threat, or maybe it's an off day and you aren't watching her close?

they still have a higher ratio of bites compared to their numbers...

i am saying i am a responsible dog owner. she allows people around if i am home and it is no problem. however, she is very protective of my kids. she loves people but is wary of strangers who wander up, especially if my kids are home alone.

Same here. Amazed at how far they go to deflect blame on the staggering percentage of Pit involved maimings/killings.

I am not in favor of banning but just see no need in anyone owning one considering the numbers game. Just way too many other dogs out there to own.

And she'll kill my pet if it crosses her path...not cool if I'm your neighbor. No hate here, but if someone's "pet" maims or kills one of mine, or were to injure a family member, it'll be the last time. I choose not to keep an animal as a pet with such potential.

30 % of fatal dogs attacks are a pit or some variant and they are like 2% of the dog population.

What more does one really need.

The CDC records 76 deaths from pit bulls or the crosses, in the same amoun of time 4 from labs and lab crosses in the years 76 thru 98.

Given the population disparity, you literally are hundreds of times more likely to get killed by a pit versus a lab.

And why Border Collie, Beagle, and/or Dalmation owners are never heard defending theirs?
