Anybody have any recommendations for decent crossbow out to 100yards ? Don’t bow hunt but want to have something to be able to get out there during primitive season here and there. Looking to spend roughy +/-2k with scope. I’ve done research on Ravin and Mission brand but wanted to see if the OB had any experience.

are you buying to use for hunting?

any bow will shoot 100 yds, but the odds of making a lethal shot at more than 40-50 yds are slim.
I’ve been bow hunting for 45 yrs and my farthest shot was 38 yds.

I agree with Kashmir. There are high end ones that can shoot pretty accurately to 100yds, but that doesn't mean it's ethical to make that shot on an animal. 50 or maybe 60 would be max, IMO.

Just because the crossbow can shoot 100 yards does not mean you should.
40-45 yards max for me.

I know a guy that just got 3-5 on a meth charge that will probably let one go pretty cheap. Let me know and I'll get his public defender to get in touch with him b

Go with Ravin. I have killed pigs at 80 yards and hit them at 125+. They are accurate and deadly out to distance.

Con: they are not cheap.

Hell I have a buddy that uses his instead of a shotgun. He killed a hammer in IL at 87 yards. Crossbow hunting isn’t bow hunting. Unless you’re handicapped in some way, or very old like LSU’s new D Line coach. But I think he still uses a compound because he’s not a pu$$y.

Lol I get the crossbow vs compound thoughts and how it’s not real hunting. Don’t really care. It’s going to be casual. Maybe step out a few times a year with it. They make scopes that range it for you and it’s super deadly at 100 yards. Just wanted to see if anybody had any experience.

No sir there is no such thing as a crossbow that is ''super deadly'' at 100 yards. Not saying you cant get lucky, but that is just flat out stupid to say.

This is why I supported the bowhunter's group opposition.

I'm looking at getting both shoulders replaced in the next couple years. Drawing my compound is out of the question, so I gladly take my crossbow. Would I rather fling an arrow with my Mathews? Yeah. Do I really give a shite what archery snobs think? Not really.

For the OP, try Wicked Ridge. It's the economy line for Ten Point crossbows. It'll put the warhead on target just like the expensive ones.

Nothing wrong with that, I hope you kill the hell out of em. I was just commenting on the 100 yd part.

I've sat and watched his son drop the bolts in a very tight group at 100 (4"-5"). Sitting in a box stand with a rest, I'd sling one with that crossbow.

I love my Excalibur recurve but 100 yards is a far shot even for the fastest shooting crossbows.
