They’re docile by nature and a truly fascinating creature. You could just leave them alone and probably be fine. They go away in the winter

So strange. I have never had a snake in the house that I didn't bring in.

Are you sure they are copperheads?

Positive. I’ve got a king snake that I see regularly by my shop I’m seriously contemplating turning him loose in the house.

Try those ultrasonic devices. Research reviews because some are trash.

When we were younger my mom was sleeping and felt a presence. She turned on her night stand light and there was a copperhead stretched across the bifold doors leading to her closet. She screamed for my brother(I had moved out by then). He saw what it was and grabbed a .410. Two new bifold doors and a room of new carpet later, the snake was taken care of. But I still feel he went with too small a round.

Why is everyone in this thread acting like this shite is normal!? Oh, just get some pellets, some sonic device.... I’ve lived in south Louisiana my entire life and have never had a snake in any of my damn houses. They would have burned to the ground.

Yeah, I'm sure they will just snuggle up to your toes while you're putting your shoe on.

Quit being a pussy. I'm currently forward deployed to a shite hole third world country. We've got baby black desert snakes (cobras) showing up inside our sleeping area.

Seriously though, get a cat. I wish you luck.

You need a professional, those baby copperheads could really mess up a small child. They don’t know how to control their venom delivery and can actually have a more potent bite than a full grown.

1) call a professional
2) remove grass or mulch from near foundation of house along with any cover nearby that is good habitat
3) check the foundation and crawl space, it’s highly likely there is a crack or hole they are entering through and those juveniles are tiny enough to get into really small spaces so don’t hold back on the caulk and spray foam

Jesus what the hell is up with snakes lately? I drove early Saturday morning to fill up my gas can and right at the entrance to my subdivision there was a 4 to 5 ft rat snake sprawled out on the road. Big sucker. Wife said she saw a pair in the ditch behind the house last week.

I am irrationally scared of snakes. But at least most of the reports from around the neighborhood have been of rat snakes or spotted king snakes. No moccasins or copperheads. So at least it seems our resident snakes are doing their jobs.

Is your house off the ground or on a slab?

First thing, and simplest, every pipe that which comes through the wall (sinks, toilet, washer/dryer, gas stove, waterheater, furnace etc) put spray foam to seal the gap.

Second, if you have access to under the house, do the same thing. Both tasks would take only a couple hours at most.

Imagine your house without any walls, just a bare floor. There are typically a limited number of holes through which a snake could enter, these are pipes, electrical and vents.

Address these holes once, and the snake infestation will likely be eliminated.

Also, if its an older house with wooden window sills, there is often a gap under the sill.
