I went on a dove hunt in north Texas this weekend and we ended up shooting about 50 pigeons that were mixed in the dove field. They’ve been eating corn and sunflower seeds and aren’t the typical French Quarter street rats. Has anyone had success making poppers or a stew out of them? The meat looks great.

You won’t be able to tell the difference. I’ve eaten tons of them killed in Ag lands. They’re good

Thanks. I didn’t want to waste the meat and it looks really good.

Half the birds on that list will get you a visit from Greenjeans.

Aren’t they just a type of dove?

Pigeons were one of many animals my grandfather had on his farm when I was a young boy.
He’d let my cousins and me shoot a few and my grandmother would pot fry them in a black iron pot and make a gravy. We would eat that over rice, sometimes with white beans.
It’s been decades since I’ve eaten them.

This bought back a lot of memories.

Everybody know that birds aren't real, but instead are just government drones.

Sounds excellent. Especially the part where they were served over rice!

Does anyone know how you go about actually having pigeons? Like, if I built a big coop for them, and kept feed around, would they nest and flourish? Would be awesome to cultivate a flock of like 500, and cull off 200 to 300 every year in a big shoot.

If someone game me some direction and encouragement, this is something I would probably jump off into.

Owl is tasty. Very similar to red tail hawk. Way better than blue heron. That stuff is fishy and strong. Never again.

Doves are pigeons. They are all in the same family of birds.

when you shoot a pigeon while in Argentina on a dove shoot your bird boy will immediately go retrieve it...he will never go pick up a dove. That should tell you all you need to know.
