This. First good day after I see one or two of them, I pull everything out of my shop and soak all the ceiling joists and rafters. Dead bees everywhere the next day and they stay gone all year. Pain in the arse, but I only have to do it once and it works.

bayer Suspend SC.
Mix it in a 1 gallon sprayer per instructions.
Spray the wood and into the holes.
I had so many at a camp you could hear then buzz as I was spraying.
After the first treatment the ground under it was black full of dead bees.
Left the holes open spraying 1 time a month for a few months.
This is dude to the eggs they lay can hatch.
Then by fall I would fill in the holes and paint.
Never had an issue since then.
Maybe once a year I would use Bayer Suspend SC to make sure they don't come back.

Dad hangs the old red cricket buckets puts a piece of apple in it and catches the hell out of them.

I built a trap like these, it works. I let the lid rust where I can't get it off, so it has like 2 inches of dead ones in the bottom that I can't get out. Still working.

I was thinking about a wrist rocket type of slingshot and use rock salt. I just started seeing a few last week.

Fight them every spring ... The traps work like a MF, leave the dead bees in the jar as they attract others.

Plastic baseball bat.
I’ve used brake cleaner fluid sprayed into the holes.

I have two of those traps, plus a liquid attractant and it just doesn’t work.
I hate those bees, but I’m torn, as they give my dog a great workout.
She’ll chase them on the deck, around the yard, everywhere. She’s absolutely mellow after playing with her new friends.

Carpenter bees are pollinators

One way to keep some carpenter bees a safe distance from your home is to pound a 2 x 4 of unfinished wood into a corner of your property. Above video taken by FIConservancy President Tom Sargent shows that this technique has proven successful on Fishers Island!

i have a log home so i fight this battle every year. This year i waged war and won. First i raided my wife's essential oil stash. You want to use a cintris oil. Boil some water and a shite load of centris oil.I used almost half a bottle of essential oil lemon. Put it in a spray bottle and sprayed inside and out of everyhole i could find on my house. that aggrevates them to know end. Then came back the next day with bottle of boric acid and water. 1 part boric acid 2 parts water and sprayed the inside of the holes. You could hear the confused suckers dying in hole. I sprayed the holes once day for 3 straight days. I see maybe 1 bee every other day or so and i take it out with the tennis racquet.

Mix water and DAWN dishwashing detergent (heavy on the Dawn) in a garden sprayer and spray directly into the hole that the bee bored. Wait and within 5 minutes the bee will crawl out and die.
