Looking to get a 22 pistol primarily for my gf and little sister to shoot (and for me to have fun with). I've pretty much narrowed it down to the Buckmark and Mark IV.

I like the bluing on the Ruger, and have shot different variants plenty of times. I like the gun. I'm reading that the Buckmark is superior in almost every way, but I've never shot one. The bluing looks matte in all of the Browning pictures, but I like shiny.

It's looking like I'd have to order the Buckmark, because no one stocks them. I can get the Ruger at several places around me.

Do yall have any opinions on which one I should go with?

Cant weigh in on the Browning. Ehat I can say is my Pawpaw gave my dad a Ruger before I was born. He had had it for a while before that. I doubt if that sumbitch has been cleaned or ever will be before I get it, and it has never thought about jamming.

Based on your comments I think you would be happy with the Ruger.

Have had a buck mark 5.5in or whatever the longer barrel version is for 20 plus years. Gun is one of the most accurate pistols I have ever shot. Eats anything I have fed it. Can’t speak on the ruger

I think Browning is offering a $50 rebate on handguns until the end of the year.

Not gonna change anything on it

They make a 7.5" Hunter. I think that'll be too big to mess with though. For what we'd be doing, I can't see it being any advantage, but idk

They're basically the same gun from what I understand. Never messed with a buck mark but my ruger is a bitch to take apart. Supposedly the new ones are much simpler.

My little ruger is accurate and fun as hell. Never had it jam that I can remember even with junk bullets

I researched this extensively and they always seemed split on opinion. Ford/Chevy. I had my heart set on a Ruger Mark III Hunter with the fluted barrel. Although I ended up much different direction with a economy buckmark camper that was too good of deal to pass up.

When I was reading about which brand was better I did read many times that the Ruger was a pita to take down but that the Browning wasn't any picnic either. I would go with what you like the looks of better.

I have a Ruger 22/45 and the one thing I don’t like is the barrel is the serial numbered part. So you can’t just buy a new barrel if you want a different length or threaded.

Buckmark. I love mine. Never a jam.

I recently ordered a Super Blackhawk and it came from the factory with severe gouges and tool marks. The best Ruger said they would do is fix it. I explained that it needed to be replaced. They said they would not replace it.

I’ll not buy another Ruger.

I’ve had a Buckmark for a long time and it’s been a great pistol. Got it at Academy I believe.

Get one of these but ignore the name: LINK

This. The last one I bought, about 10 years ago is still a winner. Used to squirrel hunt with it all the time. Kind of gave up hunting all together now. And yes, that is my wife spanking me.

I took apart my buddy's dad's early 70s Ruger Standard a few weeks ago. It hadn't ever been cleaned. The barrel didn't budge at all, but it wasn't that hard to take apart.

I'm gonna try and find a Buckmark to hold tomorrow. Haven't had any success so far, but I'm gonna call shops further out

The Buckmark will have a much more precise feel because the tolerences are tighter. You just have to decide what you are looking for in the pistol.

I’m a browning man for sure! BUT I have two of the Ruger Mark 3’s ss 6 inch and love them. I would go with the ruger in my opinion.

Gotta actually go shooting tomorrow with my little sis, so I can't make it up there. That's what got me wanting to buy one (and the gf). She's in town for the weekend, and has to take pics of herself shooting for a school newspaper story. Something about women and guns and California.

Eta: A little birdie told me yall had an interesting week at the plant
