I'll start this with "no, I'm not a die hard hunter . . ."

has anyone ever built a box stand and fooled with putting an inverter/battery/solar panel in it to run small electronics? I've seen pics from some large camp where people go way overboard but never fooled with myself.

I feel like I've seen pics of that that stand before. Is that Craig Biggio's set up?

As if deer hunting wasn't watered down enough.

Are you trying to deer hunt or play video games?

A propane heater and a cell phone is about all the bells and whistles I got.

When I bought my place they had a sportsman condo with a small solar panel going to a 12 volt Car battery, they ran a phone charger and led lights off of that.... pretty easy set up and charger comes in handy, but for as little as I use it and as little amperage it draws I bet you could just charge up a car battery at the beginning of the season and leave it in there and it would be just fine without the solar panel?

I have a 4 x 6 box stand with 100 watt solar panel, lights, and TV. Works great for my grandsons. While I don’t have TV service I can plug my phone into a jack and mirror it on the TV say what you want, but I value my time with my grandsons and if it makes these younguns happy, m happy.

You're a good grandad. It's tough to compete with all the crap kids have access to now. Get them out and enjoy that time with them.

Solar panel, solar controller (important), inverter and battery is all you need. Just did a little project making an auto light set up that was fun.

I have two! Two box stands. Both have a propane bottle and heater. Shelf for food and drink. Bed for sleeping. Solar panels supply electricity to keep 12 volt battery charged. Battery use for lights and mostly for keeping my phone and tablet charged. Camp stove in one and crawfish burner in the other for heating my food.

I decided I don't like to be cold.

I cover the windows when it gets dark and I fire up the stove for supper.

Crack open the windows only as much as I need to see where I need to see.

Shot two bucks this year right after daylight. Got out of bed warmed up the place. Sat down in socks in a chair still inside my sleeping bag. Open the window and there he is. Boom! Dead dead. I love hunting in my PJ's!

thanks gents . . . I'm pondering just doing something so I can catch early afternoon game from stand. Hopefully by the time it's winding down, deer are moving. From what I gather I should be good to go with an inverter and decent deep cycle battery.

Why not just get an iPad if you want to watch a game?

Last year on opening bow weekend I was watching the LSU game on my phone which caused me to miss a deer. Never again.
