catch early afternoon game from stand.
I bought a little battery powered tv around '08 for this reason. Put it up on a shelf in the stand and watched a few shitty games full of pick sixes, and didn't see very many deer.
I finally decided to hunt instead of worry about football.

I have two! Two box stands. Both have a propane bottle and heater. Shelf for food and drink. Bed for sleeping. Solar panels supply electricity to keep 12 volt battery charged. Battery use for lights and mostly for keeping my phone and tablet charged. Camp stove in one and crawfish burner in the other for heating my food.

I decided I don't like to be cold.

I cover the windows when it gets dark and I fire up the stove for supper.

Crack open the windows only as much as I need to see where I need to see.

Shot two bucks this year right after daylight. Got out of bed warmed up the place. Sat down in socks in a chair still inside my sleeping bag. Open the window and there he is. Boom! Dead dead. I love hunting in my PJ's!

Mannnn....if you're not trolling (something tells me you are because NOBODY hunts that gotdamn comfortable), that's one badass setup. And you're really gonna piss off all the self-righteous "I'M A TRUE HUNTER" types on here that think you should bury your clothes in the ground, not plant food plots because that's luring the deer to you, and "you should just stay home if you need all that" types....

I say if it's within reason and makes it feasible to stay in it all day if it's determined that that tough strategy is warranted....why the hell not.

I saw one last week that is 6’x12’ with a large porch. It was set up to hunt hogs at night. It had a coffee pot, cooker, RV toilet and full snack bar.

How big are these box stands?

Both are 8 by 8!

At one time my youngest daughter wanted to go hunting with me. All I had was single seater lockons and a climber. So I decided to build a box stand for two people. I figured I would put in a small propane heater to keep her/us warm.

I just slept in my truck. So I figured. Hell. My old truck is uncomfortable. I can make the blind slightly bigger and put a bunk bed behind the seats.

And things just took off from there. Gotta eat... stove... gotta pee. PVC pipe into the ground with a cap... Urinal!

Gotta have something to do. battery for cell phone. Need battery to stay charged all season.... solar panel.

I have missed opportunites at bucks because I was playing chess online. But I have also gained opportunities to shoot deer because I am in the stand hunting all day and not back at the truck eating.

I have also not had the issue of spooking deer on the walk in because I am already there. Killed two bucks this year at first light that were in sight of the stand when I first peeked out of the window.

To the "that ain't hunting" crowd. I agree. But I also aren't cold. I also don't get bored. I also enjoy it more. And I don't go hunting to please anyone but myself so I am really not interested in what you think I should or shouldn't do.

picture of the first one

picture of second one

Second picture is the second one. Unfinished, I put siding on it! Basically the only thing I paid for. Got all the lumber off the side of the road when people were working on houses after the flood and had tin for the roof already on the property when I bought the land.

has anyone ever built a box stand and fooled with putting an inverter/battery/solar panel in it to run small electronics?

We’ve always called that a camp.

I don't know what to call my hybrid. So I call the first one "Motel 6"!
