I threw away my RTIC today because the zipper failed. I bought an Ozark Trail Walmart brand for $70. I liked it bc it’s not a zipper on top but is a plastic insulated lid with a gasket. Thought I’d try something different that’s half the price. So far I like it better than the RTIC. But it’s only a week old. I love Yeti but just can’t justify the price.

If you use the zipper grease they provide the zippers work well on the Rtics.
Glued seams not so much.

Baw this redneck jew is not spending 350 on a cooler, I would break off 200 but 350 is outrageous. Too many good alternatives for less than half the price.

You want my 20% discount? As soon as they let me use it on the yellow yeti hopper I’m buying it.

When I got my Frio, the bag type was basically all they carried. Seems they've expanded their line a lot since then. Mine is all stitched, no glued pieces. Normal type of zipper so it could leak I guess, but the way it sits I haven't knocked it over. I did see the Bluetooth models for sale in a Buc-ees.

I have a Coho that I got from Costco about 3 or 4 years ago. Bag style. Works great. I don’t see it on their site though. About $45 when i bought it. Zippers need the ‘chapstick” type grease occasionally as do most.

I bought one with the zipper on top and love it. it’s sturdy, has a molded plastic bottom and keeps ice longer than I expected. It’s perfect for a fishing trip.
I also have a yeti 45 I keep chained in the bed of my truck. I just couldn’t justify the money for a yeti soft side for fishing trips.

Wal marks in Blanchard had some igloos on clearance sale for $50ish last week. I had an rtic and the zipper broke. Piece of shite.

quote:Do not buy the Coho soft coolers. I bought the same one from Costco about 3 years ago. They replace it about every 9 months for me because the zipper pull will shear off from the slider, then hook will break off the slider when I use a zip tie or cord to replace the pull. And it's a pain in the arse to get them to replace the cooler under their "lifetime warranty". The fix is easy...buy stainless steel zipper components instead of the cheap arse pot metal they currently use, but they don't seem interested in the additional expense.
I have a Coho
My broken Coho coolers are great to use to let a pork butt or brisket rest in after the cook though

Leaks like a MFer at the zipper. Have 2 of them, but rarely use for that reason
Damnit, just went check and it does. Never noticed that before.

I have the old vagina zipper yeti hopper and it’s a straight PIA to get in and out of. That said it has been used and abused hundreds of times and still looks and acts new.
I’ve tried most of the others and none has lasted like the yeti. They are kinda worth the money almost maybe

Funny you should say that. My wife just ripped the pull off mine last week! Ughhh. I will just rig something as a pull. Not bothering to send it back for that.

I just bought the Calcutta 15 L to replace my RTIC 30 Can. It’s very very similar in design except they the top of the lid is folded and stitched, not glued. Way cheaper as well.

36 can Ozark Trail. No zippers to deal with and has no problems being in the sun all day. It's in my boat anytime we go out. Can't beat it for 70 bucks

I can second this cooler. It's my daily lunch bag with two ice packs on the top of everything.
Finishing up a beach trip with this exact cooler. Get one day of ice out of it. I don't think you can get more out of any day cooler when you are constantly going in and out of it.

Not a big deal until it flips over in the back of your wife's car. I'm sure you can imagine how I found out how bad they leak.

Costco has a soft sided cooler they sell that is similar in style to YETI, but way less expensive. I've been satisfied with it so far and like it a lot better than the RTIC soft cooler.
