Bass boats are over rated unless that is all one fishes.

If I were to buy a new all around boat for fishing, it would be a 17'-20' alum hull and the biggest motor that the boat would be rated for. SCREW carpet in a boat! If one uses the boat along the coast for say speck fishing, it's a PITA to get it clean after a hot, quick bite.

Problem is now that there are a lot of boats on the water and speed, well lets just say that it is getting out of hand with people that DON'T know how to run a boat.

Now if the OP really wants a bass boat, I would look for a center console, full front deck were two people could fish off of. One never has enough front deck when it comes to fishing bass when there are two people on board.

My dad has a G3......it's a good boat.

If you go fiberglass I'd go Skeeter.

I know a few people that own them and they had no problems with there's. Hell, one has an older one that I think is the 21'er with a 150 yammy. Tops out a little over 70 mph. He is 72 years old.

G3 are really well built boats. I almost bought one last year. I was looking at Center Console that I could use for fresh or inshore in Florida. I ended up buying something else in the used market and I am 100% pleased but, I would have bought the G3 if I got a new one.

I don't know how much you are wanting to spend, but take a look at getting a custom boat like a Hanko. Best boat I ever owned. Get the exact setup that you want and they will last forever.

Same here, I looked at a wide range of fishing boats (that could do fresh and salt) and zeroed in on the G3.
Loved the versatility and durability.
However, the wife wanted fiberglass, so we went with a used tidewater.

Dont shy away from fiberglass because of stumps. I fish in stumps everywhere I go and they dont hurt a thing. That being said, Ive owned both and wont own an aluminum agian except for my little tin bayou rig I have. Not an aluminum for bass fishing. Too much trouble fighting the wind in an aluminum.
As far as brands, Ive had Skeeter, phoenix, stroker, and javelin. I think all the manufacturers today make good boats or they couldnt survive. Decide on what size you want and shop for the best deal you can find.

We have had a G3 for about 12 years and it has been a great boat. Tough as nails and Skeeter stands behind their product....

About a year after we first got it, we started noticing we'd have a lot of water in the bilge when we got back from a trip. We contacted the dealer and he said to bring it in. Got a call a few days later that they had discovered the welding machine was off calibration when they made the boat. They replaced the entire rig including the motor and trolling motor. They even upgraded us to the wider hull. Skeeter fan 4life!

Thats damn fine customer service right there. I think Reeves is who cares the G3 up here and I've never heard good things about them. Was your dealins with the dealer or the manufacturer?

I've fished aluminum bass boats and fiberglass. Fiberlass is plenty durable, you can't imagine the chit I've hit with my center console. I agree with an earlier post that Al sucks in the wind.
