Do bass boats use all stainless steel hardware? I doubt it but maybe the better ones do? The biggest issue with using a bass boat that’s not made for saltwater is getting components not made for saltwater wet and then rusting. Sure you can clean it but that’s only going to do so much.

They definitely do not come with saltwater trailers.

Ranger, just about every aluminum boat manufacture that has the same sized bay and bass boat using a pad hull.
You talking just aluminum then right? Their glass boats are definitely not the same and not sure of any fiberglass manufacturers that do this.

You'll lose a bit of bass boat functionality, but we bought a bay boat last year and I will never go back. Decks are set up well for bass fishing. I really like not getting hooks snagged in carpet. AND I really like being able to get the pressure washer out to keep the entire boat clean.

Yeah, they were talking about aluminum boats. I don't doubt that a manufacture somewhere at some point took a bass hull or bay hull and made the other out of it, but it is not common like with aluminum hulls.

The only bad thing about a bay boat I've found is rods in the console rod holders and the VHF antenna will get trashed by tree limbs if you are not paying attention. I've had that happen pretty often perch jerking with women/kids. Just pay attention and it isn't a problem. If you and your buddy are both "bring 50 rods each" kinds of fishermen then you may have an issue. There's no doubt a bass boat is better for bass fishing but in Louisiana, a bay boat is far more versatile.
With my boat boat last year, we caught redfish in catfish lake, bass in the spillway, went perch jerking in verret, caught specks in Hopedale with the wind blowing, and caught a mess of mangrovr snapper and lemon fish out of grand isle. You don't get that with a bass boat.

Bullet tried it and it didn't go well

Would definitely get something like this if I had time and money to put into fishing right now.

If you want to do both then buy a bay boat. Bay boats work fine in freshwater lakes but bass boats don’t do too well in the bay

Is the Bay boat the best bet for how I want to fish?
What area are you fishing? There are boats that can fish fresh and bay, There are boats that can fish bay and rigs, I do not know of any boat to fish rigs out of that would also be worth a shite fishing bass.

My recommendation is a Bay boat all they way. I own a SeaBorn FX24 and fish in both bass tournaments and Redfish tournaments. I have a Yamaha 250SHO and get top end speed 54mph.
Draft in 13"
Good luck

Probably launch from Texas City but I still want to be able to fish Lake Fork or Fayette County.

Majek and Haynie are two Texas boat builders who make low freeboard bay boats that float pretty shallow. I do not know if they would be good boats or not on those lakes you mentioned.
Maybe an 18 or 21 ft Hewes Redfisher, Maverick Master Angler, or Pathfinder might fit bill?
All of the boats are pretty pricey even for used. If on a budget of less than $35k I would look at an aluminum option and charter/ride along on a friends boat for the offshore days.

I am wondering how well a bay boat would work for bass fishing.

this ^^^^^^
and if there is any chop to the water you WILL have several waves over the bow washing through the boat soaking you and everything in it.
bass boats dont work well to fish in salt water

Find out who in Florida owns that boat then go get you a Terrebonne Parish discount.

They are more hideous in person than their pics. Bass boats on the lake give me da heebies when it’s rough.
