Went to my local Ducks Unlimited banquet last night and ended up winning an auction for a dove hunt in Cordoba, Argentina. I know it’s a long shot but has anyone hunted with Maer’s & Goldman Outfitters or done a dove hunt in Argentina? The guy that won it last year spoke to me after it was over and said it was truly a remarkable hunt.

You will have beautiful women waiting for you at the airport begging to go to the lodge with you for your entire stay...

Winning an auction? Lol. The last time I went to Argentina I "won" an auction also. I could have gone for about three grand cheaper if I would have not won the auction. ha.

1000 doves a day and a couple hundred parakeets. Good times.

You’ll shoot more doves than you can think of.

Bring more than enough beer and PACE YOURSELF.

BTW, if they ask you to pigeon hunt..... DO IT.

I haven't been, but be prepared to spend a fortune on shells. They ate high as hell at the places I've looked at.

The hunting with M&G was incredible, but everything else was subpar. They are uptight too, and are kind of dicks. I’ll go back but never with them. Much better places for the same money.

Can you elaborate a little more? Up tight about what exactly?

4 friends and me split the winning bid. Came out to $760 a person. Airfare is going to be a bitch but I think we came out on the good end.

Yes. 4 of us went down and spent around $10,000 on shells in 2 1/2 days on doves. $10 per box when we went.

Once in a lifetime deal for me. Didn't hunt doves in the States again for 2 years.

I’ve never been but would like to take my Son on one for his senior trip in two years. I knew the shells would be high but no idea that the cost would be as much as mentioned above.

Your $760/man will be a $5k trip.

M&G hunts are good but guys are dicks, like previous poster said. Their US “outfitter” (Brian Espy) recently gave some of my buddies a run around on travel times, what was included and what wasnt (he “gave” them a duck hunt for coming a certain week and then hit the group w a $2k/man bill for it ... just an FYI.

Dont take anything for granted and get everythjing in writing

I've had plenty of friends go, but I can't see the appeal.

You can't bring the birds back and eat them, which is a good part of the fun in hunting for me. The shells are expensive, you have to use someone else's gun (unless you want the hassle of bringing your own), and it costs an arm and a leg to get there and back. You're basically being Argentina's pest exterminator, and paying thousands to do it.

For the price, you could by a few Midwest upland or Texas dove hunts.

^ my thoughts as well. More power to anyone who wants to do it, but I just think of all the other things I could catch & kill for that cost.

Holy crap, I had no idea they were that much.

I can see the appeal of endless birds and shooting 4-5 boxes a day, but damn $10k in shells is crazy. Why are shells so expensive down there?

I have a friend that did it and he said that by the 2nd day they were basically just screwing around. Shooting with their opposite side, trick shots, etc. Then by the 3rd day they were tired of shooting them.

ETA: Would definitely be a fun experience and something you'll never forget.

Because you have to buy from them and they mark them way up. At least, that’s my understanding of it.

You can say this all you want, and everyone does... then u get there to doce hunt, shoot your 4-5 boxes in 20 minutes and wonder what you are going to do for the other 23.5 hours that day. You came to dove hunt. You will justify it will be the only time u go, gonna have fun while ur there, guys want to shoot, ur guide has many birds and many shells... u wind up shooting 2 cases in a couple hours...

Trust me. Trust everyone thats been

That’s why the upfront cost are low. They want to get you there. Have you shoot 4 boxes in an hour then buy more shells.

That is how they make their money.
