They had a voluntary recall on them awhile back. Might be worth looking into.

If you are a beginner and want to be married to a pistol brand not named glock or sw, they are nice.

By married, I mean that I have only wanted a 9mm. Never was avid gunner enough to venture into 45 or 40. Self def only.

So I stuck with a brand and bought 2 more pistols that took the same magazines. Now all 34 of my magazines go in the same three guns.

Call it a minimalist approach via space and $.

They don't shoot as well as a Rock Island 1911 Ultra FS 9mm...That's all I know.

The TP9SFX is a great shooter. Regarded as a solid, economical, entry level competition gun. I tell my brother that I have to make it miss! haha...isn't that always the case!

It was a little picky with ammo in the beginning, but once broken in, it eats anything.

Canik just released the Canik ONE series, which is the same models as they previously marketed, but with fewer "extras" in the box, and more economical packaging. These are an amazing deal for the price. I am considering picking up another.

bullshite! Coming in 5th out of 12 the very first time I ever used the gun in one of our Range Officer comps is a respectable showing (considering it was only the 2nd time I've done a Wednesday comp in a year or so)... Gimme as many days shooting it in the comps as you have and I guarantee I'll be right there with you..

Besides... Does the OP want accuracy or does he want speed? Yeah, you got me on time, but your accuracy wasn't nearly as good as mine.

I'll put my score sheet with only 1 miss all day against pretty much anyone else...

To the OP... They're one of the best "value for dollar" pistols on the market right now. Excellent trigger out the box. Goes bang every time. Great ergonomics. I have a TP9SFx with a Vortex Venom red dot and love it. Also had a standard model TP9SF until I got the "x" and loved that as well.

Can't really go wrong with them.

Honestly?

that optic is slowing you down bro.

Shouldn't miss at all with an optic though.

*only 1 miss here also

Break out the R.I. and you won't go back to the Canik

I have the Canik TP9 SF. Seems sturdy but only have maybe 50 rounds through it. I got it for only $275.00 about two years ago. Its my hunting and fishing knock around gun after my 38 broke off my belt rabbit hunting the marsh.

They make a CZ 75 clone which is a very fine 9mm for about $150 cheaper. Several companies make these clones. Personally, I'd get an original CZ from grab-a-gun for around $600.

I had a S/W I couldn’t hit the side of a barn with but this fun I can pattern very well.

I don’t have a large pool to draw from but I’ve shot Glocks, Sigs, SWs, and Walthers.

My Canik Elite has been my favorite by far. Butter smooth trigger and I’m surprise at how well the aim is with their stock sights.

I will admit, I was super pissed the first time I shot it. Probably every 8th round jammed or stovepiped for the first 100 rounds. It was depressing, but after that 100 rounds it hasn’t flinched.

I own 4 of them... they are incredible. Anyone who doesn't buy one at this price point are doing themselves a disservice.

That CZ doesn't hold a candle to the $300 TP9. I own both... Save $300 and get a Canik. Or hell, spend the 600 and get two

I realize that. It takes time to find the dot then get on target. Still, for my first time using it competitively and only my 2nd time participating in one of those comps, I think I did damn good.

I could either do thousands of "practice starts" with the gun and see if I can train my arm and hands to bring it up with red dot aligned or I can take the red dot off and use the iron sights.

Or I can use my RIA Ultra FS 9mm and beat you with the same gun?

make sure you have(or take) the day off next semi auto competition...

see you there

note:as good as Sam is accuracy wise(all 59's and an occasional 60) I don't see him getting any faster with that optic...and practices often

Southerninsanity,
I've had a Cank for a little over 2 years. I like it. Here's a link to my initial OB review on the Canik. and a second thread.. Just be sure which one you get. Personally, I wouldn' get the SA model w/ a decocke or the SA/DA model
