Another thing I thought of with duck boats..... Remember River sand and props don't mix. You don't want to run wide open on a sand flat and get suck. I have seen a wheel completely destroyed in one trip to South pass.

Last Christmas we broke 2 mudboat a in one weekend. One Clutch and one wheel. Talk about venice breaking your spirt. It can be the
Most rewarding and the most demoralizing of hunts.

If i can get this boat down to the camp.

Then i have no problem paddling, kayaking or riding in a duck boat to the hunting spots.

My crew is on the fence about a mothership trip during 2nd split. I'll keep you guys posted. We would be running a 36' Hydra Sports down with a couple mudboats en tow. Anyone interested could follow us.

I've ran to SE pass from the jump in a 17ft aluminum boat before. I high discourage anyone doing that...ever

In my younger days, I would run a 13 ft bass tracker down the river loaded with hunting gear to meet my buddies that were at a houseboat in Port Eads.

We'd duck hunt in the AM, fish later, then go stalk hogs/deer in the afternoon, then make another duck hunt (which probably was not legal). Some of my best memories are from down there. I hear it has changed a bunch.

Minimally, you should have a bay boat pulling a skiff pulling a pirogue if you want to joint he rest of the crowd.

There are some awesome little houseboat setups in that cove @ port Eads. Those guys know how to do it.

That big river swallowed up my 20 ft Ranger bass boat back in 91. Not the place to learn how to run a river.

Hammer, your camp on Pass A Loutre? We have a camp on the Garden Island Bay oil facility canal. Just wondering if we know each other.

I have only been able to go opening weekend and we limited of course. My pops was there Sunday thru Wednesday last week and they had a 3 man limit every day.

No it's in Boothville on land. I prefer a land camp to a water camp just easier for me.

I have spent many a nights down in your area at camps and near Rattlesnake bayou and the camps on the north side of pass a loutre though.
