Was just curious if anyone on here has ever hunted pass a loutre wma south of Venice? Or heard any reports. Buddy of mine said he heard it was a good area.

Stellar. Probably some of the best hunting you'll ever experience. I could tell stories for days.

EDIT:::But I have not been in quite some time, so sorry. If you have a chance, by all means, get your arse down there and make it happen.

I have not personally hunted it, but I can't imagine it being anything other than stellar due to the remoteness of the whole place...

Idk, was just curious because I've never really heard anything about it.

Looks like a dangerous boat ride for someone not familiar with the area. Guess you would have to spent several days scouting. Would a bay boat get you around or is a surface drive required?

That's what I was thinking. For sure would have to scout if I ever wanted to hunt. Thanks for input yall.
Prolly won't ever make it down there. Just was curious

Switzer- I'd rather not post too much info on the interwebs, detailing my goto spots down there. I'f you're serious about doing a trip down there I'll send over some more info for you guys. The river will literally eat you alive if you are unprepared. I've seen it happen.

if you don't like to paddle, i'd be a good idea. A lot of the people that hunt down there do mothership style week/weekends where they tow a few duck boats behind a battle wagon or houseboat style rig. It's not for the faint of heart. We would hunt twice a day and run back up towards the HOP @ hammer the trout and reds. Favorite WMA, no doubt.

Yeah that's what I was afraid of. Not knowing the area. Trying to go down getting lost, sinking boat you know the worst.....don't like being ill prepared. But there isn't many birds around my area so was thinking about venturing out

I would love to it. I have a deep sea boat and buddy has an 18' gator trax. It's the big river that scares me

Are you friends with my friends? we said we'd do a trip this year as well. Not sure if his surface drive setup is safe enough

My crew is working on a mothership trip as we speak. It might come to fruition in the near future, hopefully surface for 2nd split. I'd absolutely roll with you crazy bastards if ya'll wanted to give it a go for 2nd split.
