I bought multiple coolers and picked at all three BR drop offs. Hell I even helped unload the truck at two of the drop offs. I really appreciate everything he did and found the process great. Didn’t He even give his home address in one of the emails for people to pick up coolers that didn’t make one of the drop offs? After meeting him there is no way that guy would steal anyone’s money. In case y’all didnt know he is in the process of building another sawmill so I’m sure he is busy.

And when he donated all of the tip money? What an a-hole for giving away a few grand.

Oh, or honored old pricing even when it was wrong? Same thing, what a dick.

The fact is, it was originally a group buy. Once the world jumped on the bandwagon, it got out of hand.

The fact that some of you, who have no direct involvement with the entire affair, feel the need to disparage a man's character on this board is a direct reflection of what the place has devolved into over the last 5 years.

A little OT lounge. You must be so proud.

Met the guy once, and I can tell you he wasn't in it to screw anyone. Once interest exploded, he would have been a fool not to ride the wave.

Just done reading the deletion of the cooler thread.

To be fair, it wasn't originally even NC's idea. Someone else (don't remember who) posted a link to some Chinese website with coolers for like $30-40 per unit by container. Couple people half jokingly suggested a group buy...then NC pops in and says he would be in China in a few weeks and has experience dealing with shipping containers overseas....and it just exploded from there.

Got mine on the first shipment before it spread like wildfire. I had a feeling once everyone found out about it, it'd be too much for him to handle. Glad I got one because its a nice cooler, and I paid next to nothing for it

I'm not calling his character to question. I don't know him, but what happened was most definitely an attempt at making a little money. Like you said it was a group buy that got out of hand that seemed to turn into a side money making venture for him.

I am all for small businesses and creating new markets. He just did it on a forum with free advertising, which is the reason it's gone.

All those things that were done like honoring prices, riding a wave of orders are all things actual businesses do all the time.

You write this as if the large amount of interest and the larger than anticipated volume was a good thing.

“Like a real sawmill”

Yes a multi million dollar sawmill.

“He was in it to make money”

The only money to be really made was the tips thrown in at cooler pickups and like someone said he donated that money to someone in need.

This guy took his own time to go to a manufacturing facility in China, broker a deal for us, have the containers shipped, took time off work and away from family to handle the containers and deliver them to BR three separate times. All my lazy arse had to do was PayPal and drive to BR and pickup my coolers, all at stupid cheap prices. Wow. Then he gets banned from here for it even though lots of new people visited / joined this site because of him. Wow again.

I eventually got a refund from paypal after a couple months of hearing bits and pieces from him. I would've waited it out but I had some coworkers breathing down my neck about it. No harm no foul on his part. Glad some people got theirs.

Holy crap was there a bunch of new people.

Probably like half were people that have never even posted on the outdoor board before.

I remember in one email he sent, he said that he bought a website domain address for the coolers just in case they took off. Does anybody remember what it was? Interested to see if it has been updated.

Got both my coolers on the first unload and all I had to do was drive there and put them in the back of my truck. Same build quality as Yeti, RTIC, etc at about 1/3rd of the cost.

That shoots the "he wasn't doing it for business" argument right in the foot.

Sounded like he had a good idea, but it was poorly executed, and quickly found out why retailer have to mark up their products the way they do.

well IMO it was rather idiotic for guys in Tennessee to go in on a group buy with a guy from Mississippi on a Louisiana website and ecpect for them to be delivered to tennessee.

I only ordered after assurances that he would absolutely be making a trip to Memphis or somewhere close.

Ordered in August.

March 26 he said he would be in Memphis in a couple of weeks. Nothing since even after numerous emails.
