Any tips to avoid sea sickness?

Going on my first long-arse fishing trip tomorrow, 4am-10pm. Boat owner asked if I get sea sick...told him IDK. He just told me they weren't coming in if I did...understood.
Are you more likely to get sick in the cabin or on the flybridge? Back of the boat staring at the horizon? Any way to stop it? Chug a beer?

Just think about it really hard. Should be good to go.

STAY OUT OF THE CABIN
remain out on the deck with the horizon in view.
if you go below thats when you'll get sick
go get some of those wristbands with the pressure point things
they work

DON'T get drunk!
look at the horizon, keep your mind busy so as not to think about it. don't look down into the boat more than you really need to. stay away from exhaust fumes. drink lot of water. eat good healthy light stuff.
if you do get sick, jump in for a swim as long as the boat ain't moving. it really does help

There's tons of things you can do
Dramamine
Ginger ale
Patches
Etc.
Just don't drink a lot the night before and don't think about it and you'll be fine

Tried just a scopalamine patch the first day, still got sick. Patch plus Dramamine the second day and I was good to go.

I figured I'd avoid sleeping in the cabin on the way out...just so I don't wake up feeling out of whack. Hopefully I can get out on the flybridge with him at least until the sun comes up so I can get my bearings. I'm not too worried about it. Him warning me got me thinking though.

Bend at the knees through the rolling motion when you are feeling nauseous and steady yourself on something

If worried, stay in the cockpit, eat some bread or something that will act as a sponge in your stomach, don't drink too much liquid (normal amount),and don't focus on stuff super close too long, like tying knots or reading.
Imagine moving your hand in front of your face in and out from six inches to 12 inches. It makes you feel uncomfortable and a little sick. Same thing on a boat, your head doesn't stay still and your eyes are constantly trying to focus. Oh, and it's a head game for some, don't think about it and good luck catching fish.

I get sea sick in the shower. Patch made me more of a sailor than Captain Jack Rackem

Don't drink alcohol and if you feel queasy, look at the horizon. My wife hates going below deck to use the head. I am fine and don't get sea sick but my wife does. I make her wear some shot called sea bands but I doubt they do a damn thing.

Bonine is amazing. Take one about an hour before you get underway and you'll be good.

Just throw the frick up. On blue water fishing trip, if a new guy is looking green, I tell him to throw up and enjoy the day.

Drink lots of beer then night before.
Eat a huge, greasy breakfast.
Read a book the way out.

I remember the time my brother got stuck in the bathrm on a 58' choy lee. 6'ft seas and he was stuck in there for over an hour. Came out covered in puke

It's easy
Just don't be a pussy

If the cabin is cool or, preferably, cold, laying down and sleeping is the best way to avoid getting seasick. Dramamine works, wrist bands don't for most people. Ginger pills or gingerade is also good. There's a myth busters on motion sickness, they found only Dramamine and ginger pills were very effective.
One word of advice, this is probably the one time when throwing up does not make you feel better. Do everything in your power not to. But once your actually fishing and have your mind on something else, it'll be alright.

Stay out of the cabin; eyes on horizon.
Don't get drunk.
If you do get nauseous, gag yourself and throw up overboard to get it over with. You'll feel 1000% better afterwards. And you'll have a lil cred. :)
