Got him from Oxbow kennels in Oberlin Ohio. They have a few breeders down south too, closest is Pensacola I think now.

BTW, I have a golden retriever and a Pudelpointer. The golden sheds like crazy, loves everyone, and stays home when I go hunting. The PP comes every trip, I'm hoping he gets some blood trailing work this weekend.

Go to the shelter and get a dog there. Pure-breds are there more often than you would think, but some of the best dogs are mutts. Any sort of lab mix, german shepherd mix, boxer, cur, spaniel, beagle mix would make a great family dog.

One of the main advantages of mutts over some pure breds is that mutts don't usually get problems typically associated with one breed (German shepherds with hip dysplasia).

For what you're looking for, there's no need to spend hundreds or more on a pure-bred dog.

Great dogs but my god they get rambunctious

I think you described something like a Springer Spaniel

I agree with the above, unless you need a very specific breed, just go to the shelter and get a pretty calm dog about the size you like.

Those are cool looking dogs. What does a dog like that cost?

Agreed, unless you want one for a certain type of hunting, which wasn't on your list.

Going rate is $1500. Look into breeding requirements too, they are strict.

The right blue heeler. Just make sure you don't get the wrong blue heeler.
