Looking at buying another .22. I’ve had my marlin bolt action for the past 32 years but looking at an upgrade.

Ruger 10/22 is hard to beat. I have a Simmons scope on mine but I know it's surely not the best

ETA
My 10/22 has the walnut stock and stainless barrel. I think the stainless is the way to go

It's pretty accurate for a 22 and eats anything without a hickup

17 hmr is an upgrade, not sure about the recent quality issues nor availability but every male child in my family has a Remington Speedmaster.

Roger 10/22 is pretty famous.

They have the Reaper stock kit to upgrade as well. Looks great.

I'd like to sell my 715T mossberg and pick up a ruger 10/22.

Ruger 10/22 (Stainless) with a 3x9x40 lit reticle.

The TCR 22 is really nice also!

if you go the 14 route get the Savage A17

I can tell you with 100% certainty NOT to buy the Mossberg 715T, it is absolute garbage.

I have a ruger 10/22 that I changed the stock and barrel on that’s really nice. I bought a marlin 795 to shoot an Appleseed event with iron sights. Bone stock, I probably prefer the marlin. The 10/22 can’t be beat if you are wanting to customize it. My dad bought a built Kidd 10/22 that’s insane. By the time you buy a 10/22 and change everything on it, it probably makes more sense to buy the kidd already built. Now that I want a new trigger for my 10/22, I wish I could have my money back to buy the kidd. I think prices have gone up, I remember his being like $700. I think this is the one he has.

I picked up a Thompson Center T/CR .22 last week. It’s a remake of the Ruger 10/22, but much better IMO.

Threaded barrel, peep sight with Hi Viz front, good trigger, magpul stock, picatinny rail constructed on the gun as a one piece rather than attached.

Gun weighs in just over 4 pounds, accepts Ruger mags, and I hammered a 10 round 1.5 inch group at 100yds with a centerpoint 1-4 scope.

Can be had for sub $350 and worth every penny.

If you want a bolt action, get the CZ 457 combo it comes with everything you need to swap between .22LR and 17 hmr.
If you want a fantastic semi-auto, get a CZ 512 in .22 mag.
Put any decent scope on them, or don't, they have excellent iron sights with adjustable windage and elevation. I have every kind of .22 you can imagine and none can touch the CZ rimfires straight out of the box. My favorites are the CZ 512s. They come with a 5 round box mag, but any dealer will have a 10 round mag in stock for it also, and there are 25 round magazines available aftermarket.
I already had 2 of them, but I bought another the other day, it had such nice looking wood on the stock and forearm. The rifle with a 10 round mag was $560 bucks. I already had a Nikon rimfire scope that I put on it. Shooting with a bipod, at 100 yards it is linking every single shot or shooting through the same holes with Hornady v-max 30 grain JHP and almost as good with the CCI 40 grain JHP.

For rimfire, I would highly recommend you get adjustable objective. I get a lot of really close shots, and most rimfire scopes just are not suited for that. I love my Hawke Vantage.

I picked it up for $100 used.

It's not terrible. Just keep it clean and it runs fine. I don't like the feel and carry of it.

If I got $200 for it I'd be happy. I wouldn't say they ate worth more than that.

The best semi-auto is the Browning Auto 22.

If you want a 10/22 type action look at the Volquartsen.

If you just want to spend a lot of money on the most accurate bolt action look at a Vudoo build or the Zermatt RimX.

If you want a really fun .22 get a ruger Charger 10/22, put a folding brace on it with a Franklin Armory binary trigger. You will need plenty of .22 ammo.

Just remember if you want accuracy out of a .22, ammo is just as/more important than the gun. If you want something to plink with get the 10/22 and shoot as is or customize it.

My bolt action Marlin .22 was my dad’s from when he was young, so at least 50 years old, and it’s flawless. There is no upgrading.

I'm partial to the 10/22s. A takedown model with a UTG Bugbuster scope is hard to beat for 50 yards and in for the price.
