I have been trying to sell a 16' GatorTrax for a couple of weeks on Louisiana Sportsman classifieds

Received a couple calls and 1 offer but I am thinking it sounds a little scammy:
quote:

payment will be sent to you in form of a Cashier Check which can be cashed instanly at your bank, i will arrange for my private shipping agent to come for pick up right after payment is delivered. I'll like you to hold on to it for this time frame and disregard any other inquiries, iw ill need your full name and a mailing address where payment is delivered

I have read about some Cashier Check check scams where they actually offer more, this guy actually negotiated down a little bit. I would not release the boat until the CC was verified and I have cash in hand but could they just be looking for my Name and Address to run some other type of scam?

Any other ideas on alternate places to post, where my pricing is at, and types of payment to accept? I am not in a huge hurry to sell it as the new boat is not due to arrive until July but would like to get it done sooner than later.

This is one of those "Tell me how..." TikTok videos ain't it?

"Tell me you're selling a boat without actually saying you're selling a boat."

You sly sumbitch, you!

Bruh, run the other way!

Have whomever wants to buy it show up at your house, in person, with cash or money order.

Simple enough, tell him you will hold onto it until it completely goes through banking system or your own third party escrow

Sir, you have now hurt my feelings. I hereby withdraw my offer and have instructed my shipping agent to pursue other tasks. You are no longer required to disregard other inquiries.

And kindly inform this AlxTgr person that I will no longer consider purchasing any vessel that he might list for sale.

First thing I always do when selling something listed online is get them on the phone. Once I speak to them over the phone text messages afterwards are fine. If they won’t talk to you over the phone it’s 100% a scam. The foreigners know they can’t disguise their accents in a phone conversation.

Not saying it’s not a scam. But I once sold a boat at asking price to some guy in Singapore. Only few email communications. Nobody came and looked at it. Wired the money. Once my bank okayed it. He sent a driver and picked it up from me. Almost seemed too good to be true at the time.

Just based on grammar and syntax, it sounds like BS to me. A cashier's check can be faked or scanned. I'd want cash money.

That's an old one. My wife got involved selling some Jewelry/Avon and some other stuff back in the day. Your typical MLM crap, but she liked it as a hobby. And basically she bought stuff for cost, and it was a way for her to get what she wants at a discount from the markup price.

One day she gets a similarly worded email about wanting to buy some jewelry. It wasn't anything huge, maybe $500, but the thing about the cashier check is what was sketchy. They could have ordered it online using a CC from the little website she had set up, so why not do that if you're not trying to scam someone?
