The 6.5CM is a great round, but honestly as a hunting round it’s a gun built for the west. Long range accuracy while retaining kinetic energy at point of impact.

I’d argue that at close ranges, within 125 yards, there are many calibers which are a much better choice. It’s intended purpose is to be a friendlier cartridge than the big magnum rounds.

Harvested a cull bull elk last year with the Black Hills Gold ELD-X 143GR last year. Ran about 40-50 yrds dropped, rolled and done. Oh, it was with a 6.5 Cripplemore as well

You try to ruin every board. Thsi statement is idiotic. The two rounds use the same bullets. The .260 gets you maybe 100 FPS in velocity with a twist rate inferior to the Creed for the length of bullets being used. So, not only is it not far superior, it's actually inferior.

ELD-X 143GR

Probably the best projectile for hunting out of the 6.5

And certainly not a Death Ray like the 257 WBY. ??
So, a smaller bullet even faster. You truly are a moron.

With regular ol soft point 140gr+ bullets, its great for deer at any range.

It’s best past 900 yards Wouldn’t try and shoot a deer with many other calibers at that distance

explain to me in technical terms how I shoot ammunition that I can’t buy.

Shoot something else.

I think y'all are arguing the same point fyi

And ELDX is the last thing I would shoot. I don't care about the 3 animals y'all shot that ran 30 yards. There are better hunting bullets available.

Shoot that smaller bullet even faster and get back to me. 257 WBY has amazing performance in the field. Ask Ol Roy Weatherby how it did on Cape Buffalo.

You're too obsessed to be logical. That's okay, just own it.

I honestly don't think you even understand how a cartridge works.

This is in no way meant to be argumentative but more of a learning perspective. I reload so im always looking to expand the arsenal so to speak. Why not the eldx? I have several different bullets for my 6.5 (i have creedmoor and prc) so im not opposed to using different bullets. I love having several options. I currently have 140 eldm, 147 eldm, 143 eldx, 140 berger vld hunter and 156 berger eol. I was planning on running the 156 in my prc to start out with and see but Ive had great success with the eldx on deer sized game. what bullets do you use?

Hornadys website claims it holds 50% weight retention under 400 yards, and 80-90% over 400 yards. its made softer so it will still expand at long range, which most people will never even attempt.

so functionally at normal range, its a ballistic tip shedding half of its mass. i would be interested to know of all the deer killed with EDLX in this thread, what percentage had exit holes?

im not shooting a bullet that loses that much weight.
