Need to build a box stand big enough so I can take my kids along with me and hopefully kill their first deer. Not sure what size would provide the most comfort and ease of use. Planning to start the build this week

That would be too wide for my trailer though...

We have a 4x8 that I hunt out of with my 2 boys and it fits us just right. We can put 3 chairs in it and be pretty comfortable.

How many at a time?

I have a 4x6 and it fits two adults comfortably.

I prefer 4x8.

Not as much cutting plywood and you can lean office chair against back of stand. There is plenty of room in a 4x8.

I have a 6x8 that I pre-fabbed at the house and then broke it down and put together in the field. Plenty of room for two adults and should be able to put an adult and two kids in there with room to spare. Box stands are like gun safes always go bigger then what you thing you will need.

Also thinking of using pressure treated fence boards for siding so I don’t have to paint

Not a horrible idea, but they will shrink up and leave gaps. Any water on the floor will cause your floor to rot.

IMHO 4x8 is perfect size for anything up to and adult and two kids. When you get bigger its just a pita to deal with.

My dad built a 6x6 box stand back in the day so he, my brother, and I could hunt comfortably. The advantage a 6x6 would have over a 4x8 would be the ability for a small child to nap behind the seats while two people are hunting or all three of you could just sit side by side. The 4x4 doesn't give you that opportunity because it is to shallow.

My kid has smacked a pile of them sitting in a 4x4 with me. Starting to get a little tight now. I've built (3) 4x6 stands this year. They're just right

My uncle had a 4x8 that was perfect. One wide window up front, and a small one on each side. He took an old church pew for a bench, padding and all. The church was remodeling so my dad got a few rows that they removed for ADA access. He cut them down and made a 7 foot one for my uncle, and made two that were 3 feet long for his waiting room seating. Uncle put a standard door on the back of it that swung out so we could step in and have a foot of space to get around it. Once we were in, you could seat 4 if you had to, especially with two being kids like my cousin and I were.

Now that I have both my kids hunting with me in in a 4X6 and feeling crowded I'm wondering how the hell my dad did it with me and my brother in a 4X4 with zero electronics.
I also remember getting to the stand on a 110 3 wheeler. I'll never forget being so excited when we got the 200m. Felt like riding in a car!

I just bought a 4x6 and 6x6. I think the 4x6 is plenty for 2 people but that 6x6 is gonna be great for 3.

I have 4x6. I wish I would have gone 5x8. 4' gets narrow with the chair, backpack, people etc. 6' makes it tight to rotate around.

Have you thought of using vinyl flooring for the sides?

I hear that's all the rage lately.
