I have a Tikka T3x Lite and came across a few boxes of each of these. I don’t have enough time to go shoot each of these. Just need to pick one in and site in my rifle for a hunt this week(Mississippi white tail).

Anyone have experience with either-

130 Grain SP - Federal Non-Typical Whitetail

Or

Winchester 270 WIN 150 GR PP

Or

Federal Power-Shok Ammunition 150 Grain Round Nose Soft Point

I think the federal non typical is the same as power shok in a different box.
I’d go with that one.

My .270 is a different brand but it really likes the Winchester CT in 140gr, better BC than the 130's.

My remington 270 doesnt shoot the 150s for its life.

With no other reason than that, I say the 130s.

Pick one and sell me the rest.

But seriously the best ballistics are with 130g.

I was secretly hoping you guys would say the 130g non-typical. I have more of that one than the others combined.

I don’t know how far your shots are, but I hate the idea of using a round nose 270 bullet. It takes away the reason why you get a 270. But a guy in my club did use 150 round nose for a couple deer. It kills them just fine. Your range just shrinks.

Typical shot is 100-150 yards.

First 2 for me. No to round nose.

Then it's just whether you want 130 vs 150 and which your gun likes best. They are very similar bullets

I would lean to the 150gr then as long as it shoots well. A soft point 130gr at .270 velocity is smoking at 100 yards and might not hold weight as well.

I shoot the federal premium NP vital shok 150 out of the same tikka. Never tried anything else anmo wise and have killed 100% of my game.

I use the 145 grain Hornady in mine. This was my first year with them but they did a great job on the 3 shots I took.

This was my second season with the rifle. I had shot core-lokts for most of my life but my Tikka hated them.

Thought the rifle was shite until I switched to the hornady

I’d probably go with the 130gr Non-typical. I’ve shot the 130 gr power shok in the past and always had excellent results. I’m sure they are pretty similar.

Can't go wrong with either of the first two. 130 gr. has always been the 270s sweet spot, most all rifles will be accurate with that grain.

So BC doesn't matter.

Typical shot is fine to consider, but I would also think about the longest shot possible where you hunt and prepare accordingly.

Realistically, 200 yards.

That's no problem for any 270 load. I shoot 150 grain federal fusions because I appreciate having an entrance and exit wound on deer. My suggestion is 150 in whatever you can find if you aren't poking over 200yds.

130 is a flat shooting round and looks great on paper. If you are going to shoot that in a 270 I suggest getting a really good bullet. 130 soft points tend to explode or not exit on large deer.

Qualifications: Been shooting the same .270 since 1988 and have experimented with dozens of bullets and shitepiles of critters.

I’ve been using the Federal Premium Sierra Gamekings in 130 and they have been devastating. All deer shot within 100 yards. I grabbed a couple boxes of the Fed Premium with the Barnes bullets to try but have gotten around to it yet.
