Why are the best skiers in the world all smokeshows? What attracts them to skiing?
It takes a lot of money to ski. There you go

Yeah they are almost all very attractive. I realize you can’t be out of shape and ski, but it’s crazy how they all have good faces too.

She is only 26 and has two gold medals. Most all time in alpine skiing is 4 golds
So to be straight, the "best of all time" half precisely half the gold medals of a different skier.
She may get there one day, but let's not crown her just yet. This is the kind of shite that fricks with millenials' heads.

Then you went on a retarded rant because you didn’t realize she already had two golds

Michael Jordan only has 54% of Bill Russell's rings. Obviously not the GOAT

Missed all this. Heard a noise, my 5 year old throwing up all over his bed. Great timing.

She also has 6 world titles and is very close to Lindsey Vonn’s World Cup wins record in a decade less time.

You realize that both Biles and Shiffrin have a lot more than ‘pats on the back’ in their trophy rooms, right?

From all accounts, he seems like some Chinese dude who went to Michigan. He was complaining about something on the MSB six months ago.

“Best of all time” and wins jack shite at Olympics + announcers slob over her. Just like Simone Byles. Americans glorify failure under pressure. Everyone gets a Pat on the back and a trophy.

No it doesn’t. You just have to spend money you have on those things. I mowed lawns and had to sell my mountain bike (which I also paid for) to buy my first twin tips. I didn’t waste any money on shite I didn’t need. My parents weren’t rich. I just worked hard and I became one of the best skiers in NY. 4 or 5 of us pooled money together for gas to get to the resort, which was under 10 bucks. Ski passes for a year for kids were unbelievably cheap, especially if you joined the ski club at school. We mostly ate Ramon noodles. If you get good enough, companies sponsor you and you don’t have to pay for any equipment because they want people seeing you in their gear. Everyone knew who I was growing up. Everyone stopped what they were doing when I was dropping in hitting a jump, from people on the lift to skiers on the slope. My friend was sponsored by Burton so that helped. We used to put on shows with kickers we built hitting them within a second or two of the other person. Him doing rodeo flips, me doing crossed up 720’s. Nobody came even close to doing those things.
It was an investment for those companies that worked out well for them. A ton of people started buying twin tips on that mountain largely because of people like me. I am, however, attractive too so that helped.
You could get rides as a younger kid through ski club, or having older brothers, or having older friends with licenses. You get decent and doors start opening for you everywhere. Most people don’t start doing crazy stuff until 14 or 15 (sometimes older)

The vast majority in sports like skiing will come from affluent families. Sure there are exceptions but they aren’t the rule

After Shaun White is gone. US judge finally can give fair score now.
The US judge might be the low judge on all the runs. If that's how they're scoring all competitors, then it's fair. Now if he only lowballed the 2, it's BS.

You know the Olympics isn't the only international competition. Not by any means. It's just the one most of the US watches.

Hot in shape women marry really rich guys who live and frequent ski towns.
They have good looking in shape children who grow up skiing.

Did not see you mention the coaching. Do you need coach in your sport or you guys watch tapes, discuss and figure out the tricks you can play?
For the snow ski, the coaching is very expensive.
Especially these athletes usually start very early.
At 3, 4, their parents will take them to ski places: food, lodge, basic coaching.
At 7 or 8, they would be told their kids have talents. Then they need more expensive private coaches.
They may get sponsorship at age 17, 18. Before that, the family need to pay training, traveling, coaching. Or sometimes the professional camp (they took 360 degree video of the action and analyze everything you do)
If it is a male athlete, he can travel by himself or with coach after some age.
If female athlete, the mom usually need to travel with the girl. Kind of full time ski mom.
Also US is very resourceful. Ski, Swimming, Golf, these sports are very expensive in other countries. But affordable in US.
The international ski athletes need to pay more to get the training.

I never had a ski coach. I never planned on skiing big time although I did enter comps and win some. I just loved doing it. The only coaching I ever got was at Mt. Hood at High North Ski Camp, which was done in June on the very top of the mountain. Those coaches were people like JP Auclair and CR Johnson tho lol. There were reps for sponsors there the whole time though. They acted as more of mentors
