To prepare Thanksgiving and Christmas shopping season, in May/June time, Walmart these big companies will start put orders.

Around that time, Trump will feel more pressured to get a deal done. Not sure how he can walk back these tariffs without losing face.

I think our American people are hard-working but paid too much and priced out of competition. Not sure how to solve it. The cost of decent living demands this kind of wages.

In California, the entry wage of In-and-Out worker is $22 an hour. That is equal to one day pay of Chinese factory worker.

Use Tesla as example. Tesla runs similar factories in Shanghai and Fremont.
Same Tesla, it is selling lesser inside China than in US.

A lot goods only China can supply. In the last 8 years, any American company that can find stuff outside China has already done so.
For example, Nike is no longer made in China.

Last week, when stock market saw the biggest drop, 401K accounts saw the biggest sale volume.

That day, a lot people moved their 401K holding from index fund and stocks into low yield, safe funds.

With the market rally this week, these people sold low and will buy high.

This kind of round trip is hurting working class the most.

This is why China blocked the Black Rock port trade.

The HK company rent and run the ports around the global including two Panama ports.

If these ports are sold to Black Rock, China is afraid Chinese ships will lose access to these ports. China need those ports to trade with South America, Europe and Africa. That is why China is blocking the port sale.

The belt and road project is used to expand the market for Chinese goods.

Biden has a similar project a few years ago. But the project died since people need to do hard work in a lot poor, unsafe countries. American companies do not want to do business in those shitting countries. Chinese people traditionally have very good relationship with poor countries.

With the new expanded markets, the trade between US and China dropped to 18% from 40% since Trump's first term. That is why China is not scared to match the tariff with Trump.

The thinking from Chinese side is:

The export to US is for US $. With the US$, China can buy oil and gas.
China has enough of the US $. No need to earn more. With the Russian asset frozen precedent, the US $ is not safe asset any more.

It is a pleasant surprise to China that Trump starts trading war with every country. China prepared the war vs. US + Europe + Japan + Korean + UK + Canada. Last year, all providential governors and 10, 000 companies assembled together and prepared the trading war strategy.
