Can you imagine the stress level on the poor bastards operating these ROV's? Knowing the whole world is watching... If it works I bet someone writes a book...

I swear I would trade almost anything for this spill to stop and float to Venezuela.

that gas lift idea would explain why the one ROV kept viewing a line of what looked like valves earlier in the day. redstick you're obviously very knowledgeable, what is your background?

If this top cap works, every drop of that oil they collect in the tankers should be sold with the profits going directly to the people of Lousianna, I can't help but to think BP likes this solution because it means they can start making a profit from this disaster

No problem. I'm actually doing natural gas drilling in Colorado now myself so it should all be fresh.

Anderson Cooper on CNN has a really good idea. He's asking them to provide a narrative to go along with the live streams. It would be nice but I understand they need to concentrate on the work at hand.

They could have some BP dude just watching what we are watching and give the narrative. It could be some engineer intern!

Redstick, a question.

The feed we are seeing right now, the plume escaping from underneath is from a bad seal at the sawed-off portion or from the open valves for the "hydrate mitigation"?

any insight will be appreciated.

Yeah even a very simplistic narrative explaining what were looking at. they've gotta have someone whos on coffee duty for the ROV ops who could talk into a microphone every now and then.

When you're done answering that question Redstick could you also provide some insight into what is going to prevent this from happening to the relife wells being drilled?

based on the video I saw on nola.com, it looks like a bad seal. Hope I'm wrong.

Is any one else seeing this right now? unless the cap was lowered with the derrick, how do they not have pipe in position to attach?
