there is definitely less discharge into the GOM now than before. Remeber the plume that was flowing with that open riser.........this is much less IMHO

I can't see the video but I assume they are allowing the lighter gas and oil to displace the water before shutting the valves.

Thanks.

I'm just so damn desperate to see or hear some good news.

I'll sit back, drink another beer, watch, listen, and pray.

Not to put a damper on everyones potential happiness with the cap working...but this is only a band aid redirecting the plume...how do we actually STOP THE UNCONTROLLABLE LEAK OF OIL!!!!

I can't figure out what is going on with Enterprise ROV1.

There is oil coming from underneath and oil shooting out of an apparatus the ROV arm is holding?

Relief well. That's the only way to truly stop it.

So basically BP is going to spend the next three months saying "yeah theres still oil going into the ocean but hey, its less than it was before we put the band aid on. yah us!!" sorry to sound like a downer just sort of frustrated with the lack of a reliable plan before they even started drilling

Did some people really think the flow would just "stop"? What everyone here is watching is really an engineering marvel. It's not like you're unclogging a pump in the bottom of your pool.

The plan was approved by the Department of Interior. Surely you don't suggest our government could make a mistake?
