She’s beginning to warm up around the center.

well, the forward speed on that thing might give you 8 hours of bad adverse effects maybe less depending on location so there's that positive I guess.

The models shifted westward and what's funny is the GFS is basically almost identical to the Euro on path. Euro been heavy on the west and it has been shite all year but it picks a fine time to try to be right. Motherfricker.

Do you really think the Euro performed better than the gfs for this storm?

NOLA forecasts still showing only a few hours over 40 mph winds with peak gusts under 70. Is that likely to change or at this point is that around what we should expect here?

It will all depend on where exactly it makes landfall. 10pm update should give a pretty indication of that.

I am not a pro, just a Gustav bro.

If it performs to hurricane intensity I think that may be a little on the conservative side for Nola

There's a range of possibilities depending on strength and location of storm.

I think that forecast is a decent baseline but be mindful of potential for like 50-70 mph winds and gusts in the 80s in NOLA.

Only for an hour or two, and if it hits the high end of it's potential intensity (95 mph is my high end guess) and goes west enough of the city to have NOLA in the worst part.

Should get 40-50 sustained at least for an hour or two.

No. The point I'm making is they're lining up now which pretty much narrows it down to a very small bullseye at this point. There isn't much wiggle room on that path other than some very minor shifts west or east.

I'll finish work tomorrow around 10pm on the West Bank, what would you say my chances are of making it back to Metairie? That seems to be the time when New Orleans will be getting the worst of it?

Might have to wait an hour or two. The problem is probably going to be getting across a bridge in the TS winds. I don't know what the cutoff is but I'd imagine the CCC and Huey P would close with 50 mph winds.

You'll be able to make it home within a couple of hours Id think. The storm will be trucking.
