Several hospitals around NOLA moved shift change up from 7 pm to 3 pm. That was the call yesterday. Hopefully they will change it since that may be peak hurricane time.

Storm is moving so fast most know it won’t last long and the ground isn’t saturated so not as many trees will fall. All the fear mongering is just a waste so quit being a bunch of pussies and let this “thunderstorm” pass on by.

Walk off pine tree distance to house. If more than the top say...20 feet are gonna hit it, I might ease on out.

The oaks likely won't give a damn.

I have 5 pine trees within 10 feet of my house (Abita Springs). 2 have actually grown over the house (can't see roof on google maps). I have two little ones. Thinking about possible evac.

my parents have a few of those huge pine trees by there house, like 4 feet diameter, maybe 60 ft tall or so... kind of worries me but figure they have been through a lot over their life so should be ok

Wife is stuck at oschner as well. They told them business as usual nothing to worry about. Ridiculous.

What? Pines will blow over just the same as everything else.

Yep, ground saturation is important. I'm not worried. Rode out at lot worst than this for sure.

Yesterday was our 7th time moving boats and other stuff at the camp. Admittedly we were lulled by prior storms and probably didn’t prep as much as we needed to. Got lazy and will probably pay for it.

For example, we left tools and things 6 feet off the ground thinking this was going to be a small event. Items that could possibly blow around were left exposed. Now that they are predicting CAT 2, I’m concerned we didn’t do enough.

The fact that this front was so poorly forecasted blows my mind. Can only blame myself for being storm fatigued.

Same. Told her if they don’t get let off by around lunch she might as well stay until 8:00 pm.

My wife’s at Terrebonne. She’ll end up stuck there.

Appreciate LA being the focus here, but what are expectations for Mobile Bay area?

This is hurricane is def worse and should be prepared for more than the others for the Nola metro area, but again, this place is overselling it still

You are looking at 30-40mph sustained winds and gusts around 50. Tell folks to prepare absolutely, but dont oversell

The forecast has barely changed for like 3-4 days
