My Daughter works in NOLA and they told her they’re opening at 10 and will just close early.

This is crazy. It’s like all the decision-makers from NOLA to Pascagoula are completely fricking oblivious today

Karma would be Zeta freaking the people making these decisions up really bad. Same people that closed the state economy down and have ruined the lives of hundreds of thousands of people.

Why did I wake up to my weather app saying 45 mph winds in BR today....

I see the same thing but the NWS forecasting still says only 10-15mph winds at the airport

Yep, I work in Elmwood and as of now it’s business as usual. Which is dumb because the two storms that hit Lake Charles, we had the day off and it was sunshine here. This one is coming up our arse and it’s business as usual.

“Hurricane force winds extend 35 miles from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 150 miles. “

I think all of the wishcasting of hurricanes to SE La has caused 2 separate effects:
1) A boy who cried wolf scenario in which no one is taking this thing seriously
Or
2) A scenario in which most people down her have already prepared for 2 hurricanes, so they already have everything they need.

I’m in the latter scenario. We have already prepped 2x for hurricanes, so we have everything we need. I’m going to work this morning, getting off early, then heading home to hunker down and ride this out.

Hurricane force winds were found 50 miles northeast of the center

Mandeville. 2 young kids. Lots of trees in range of house. Pine trees and water oaks. 2 story house so can stay downstairs during the wind obviously. Stay or go?

Walk off pine tree distance to house. If more than the top say...20 feet are gonna hit it, I might ease on out.

The oaks likely won't give a damn.
