Like become an anesthesiologist?
Yeah, dude said he failed out of med school, so maybe his son could go into anesthesiology or something else in the medical field. Can try med school again later. Anesthesiology is a good career.

“Smart kid just not ready to be a doctor.”
He is above average individual if he did all that.. keep helping him.. take living expenses stress off and let him try to work things out.. find another path in medical field. Phar sales… ehhh but good.. medical equipment sales.. go get an mba and hospital admin.. do not leave him .. he is way above average if he got into med school…. help find a non doctor path.. he has a lot going for him..
Fwiw : I have a son that made it to white coat but I know a few that did not.. it is difficult .. second year stuff is tough and some flunk at that point.. I have a friend that his son had to do that.med school let him repeat the year. . took an extra year to get the white coat but he did and is a practicing doctor now..
We need doctors .. and he is above average .. help him..

You help your kid. If it’s not an effort issue, or maybe bad choices, you do what you can. Our job as parents is to do what you can to get them on their feet without spoiling them.

Maybe he could be a neurosurgeon

Medical device reps generally make a little more money due to their commission structure and they often get to work in the OR helping and guiding the surgeons using their wares. This may be a significant upside for someone that wanted to be a doc.
Agreed.. i was in med device sales for a while, but the scrubbing in/OR piece was a big downside for me.. then again, i never had aspirations of being a doctor.. plus i hated waking up at 5am lol .

I’m going to assume this is a troll. There’s just no way it can be a real post

He's close to 30. Doesn't have a clear way to feed himself. It's time he shoulders real responsibility

Send him to law school.

You have already sent him and paid for the best undergrad (private) college he could get into

I don’t know if they still have it, but LSU Med School used to have a yearly party called the "It’s Not Too Late for Law School Party."

Yeah, I was thinking nurse anesthetis...
Just googled it. Didn't realize it takes about 10 years to become one.. thought it was less.

Real world. He’ll thank you in 5-10 years

I realize ur probably half joking, but to me medicine and law have always seemed like two completely different types of skill sets in terms of the type of person who would excel in each one … one requires a real left-brained type analytical scientific person, while the other is best suited for someone who is right brained and great at languages, communication and persuasion.. i dont think there are many people who would be great at both.. and if you can find someone wo excels at both they’d probably make multiple millions of dollars per year .

This is not my area of expertise, but from what I have always heard from my buddies that went through med school, once you got in you should be able to hack it. No one is trying to fail you. Everyone wants you to succeed. You may not get to be a surgeon, but there is a path for everyone that gets in.
What am I missing here? Or have I just been wildly misinformed?

Encourage him to go be a big truck 18-wheeler driver. They are professionals. Many doctors cannot back up vehicles with trailers, so he would have that going for him.
