I've had this happen when I was the first appointment of the day and had updated all my info in MyChart already including DL and insurance card pics.

Whats nice now is that if you're seeing a dr in a network like LCMC or Oschner and you have a patient portal, you can go into your portal the day before or the day of and check in and update all your info, even pay your co-pay, all online...then all you have to do is show up and let them know you are there, they will ask you to sign in and tell you to take a seat, saves a lot of time checking in through your portal

I know LCMC uses EPIC so all your doctors can access your records, meds that you're taking and any test results from any dr. Oschner has a similar system but I dont think they can each share info between the 2 systems

And then you wait for 30-60 minutes to see someone

Because you and 4 other fricksticks showed up "a few minutes late."

This is why I choose early morning appts...before Kentfricker screws up the line for everyone else.

Since I followed my Dr to his new practice at Baylor CoM they have all that through MyChart and its great and fast. But I've had other places where you do all that ahead of time and they still make you fill out the same shite and take the same copies and I'm just left wondering why I spent the time to do it twice and wait even longer. This does seem to mostly be an urgent care thing lately though.

I had an 11:15 appt w/ an electrophysiologist at Tulane. They requested I arrive 15 minutes early to complete/review paperwork. I arrived at 10:45.

Sat in the waiting area until about 11:30. Called back for EKG and vitals and waited another 20 or 30 minutes. Saw doc for about 10 minutes and was out of there. Back to Metairie about 1:30.

I also wore the mask they gave me and didn't bitch about it. Getting all worked up, especially at a cardiology appt, doesn't seem like it's worth it to me. I don't like waiting, but the reality is some doctor's schedules can be screwed up by things beyond their control.

If I'm supposed to be somewhere at a certain time I make sure to get there early. If I showed up right on time I'd feel stressed and like I'm late.

If you're not early, you're late.

So my appointment is at 9:45? What is this time warp medical people live in? I get it all the time, the magic 15 minutes that doesn’t exist.

Are you a new patient? You probably have a bunch of paperwork to fill out and they need to check your insurance.

You can show up at 10 but don’t be surprised if you get passed up on the schedule because you were taking your sweet time with the paperwork.

Appointment at 10
They say come at 9:45
Then they finally call you back around 1 pm

I swear doctors offices and the DMV were created to specifically punish me

A three hour wait is ridiculous, especially if no explanation is offered. I have some patience with doctors, but I'd be out of there.

Appointment is at 10 but they need a few minutes to check you in.

I like to show up 30 minutes early in case they can start on me earlier. Half the time I get my name called before my appointment time.

important for clerks to update medical insurance information as well as any change in address, etc.

I really love it when you fill out all the important info online the night before, then when you get there, they give you a clipboard with all the same freaking questions.

I had a Dr’s appt for 8:30 am for Dr I had never seen before. They said to come at 8:00 am for paperwork. Show up at 8, office closed. 8:15 staff comes to unlock doors. By 9:00 am, I’m sitting in their office and still no Dr.

I made a scene, explained in detail how the Dr and his staff are unworthy people that deserve every harm that should ever fall upon them and I left
.

there is some documentation of you being an asshat preserved in the emr

You live in a system that includes more people than just you. Lots of uncontrollables. 15 min by all helps keep system running smoothly.

Doctors are for pregnant women. No man, and few women under 70 should be regularly going to a doctor.

This happens a lot in my town. It is mind blowing. I have even been asked to complete the same paperwork on my next visit. I politely said that I had already completed it before, and they got pissy with me.

According to my grandpa, if you're 15 minutes early, you're on time. If not, you're late.

That is a Midwestern thing. If you say the party starts at 7:00pm Southerners don't start showing up until 8:00pm and Midwesterners are there at 6:45
