I spent 14 days quarantined with someone with two positive covid tests and a shite ton of symptoms. I made zero attempts to avoid it.

We did things that you and your mom better not...

My mom passed away a few years ago. You are very fortunate to have a wonderful mom to visit.

Tell her not every place has a rapid result antigen test and that’s only 65% reliable

Or you had worse hangovers

It's almost as if she's in a high risk group or something.

Mine is older and has heart/kidney issues, Covid would for sure wipe her out.

I was sick last week with something (upper respiratory) but couldn't get tested due to the large number of people trying to get cleared for Thanksgiving.

I elected to stay home

Of course. She’s 89 and wants to live. Wtf is wrong with you that you think this is an absurd request?

I can’t spend Thanksgiving with my parents because they are in their 80s and just got released from the hospital for COVID after being there a month. It put my step mom in ICU. My daughter hasn’t seen them all year.

You 100% go get tested. You schedule online, sit in you car, let them put the swab in your nose and like it.

If your mom is 89 why are you even asking? And the whole “do I risk getting it my going to the clinic” you sound like a douche lol

I'd tell her there's no chance I'm gonna risk adding false positives to the count when I know I don't have the fake virus, and that I really want to spend Thanksgiving together but I'll respect her wishes and stay away if that's what she decides.

FYI, a lot of clinics will send someone out to your car to administer the test.

Same thing I'd do when she'd ask me how school was. Or how work was, or how finances are.....I'd say "all good..we tested yesterday and everything is perfect"
