That didn't stop my friend at work who drove his truck without tags for months.

You do not own the streets/roads. The tax payers own the streets.

So, what youre saying is if you pay this particular tax(tags) you can drive on taxpayer owned roads. Doesnt a guy that fails to pay his income taxes yet does pay his tags still have a right to drive on the road?

you could probably keep it by the river for a while with no tags until someone came to tow it. depending which river you pick.

You can’t drive on the roads that aren’t yours unless you help pay for them tho.

In what sense? Personal property taxes and real estate taxes are based on ad valorem - the FMV x's a millage rate. Most states do not impose a true property tax on vehicles held by idividuals. Missouri does. And a handful of other states. But do not confuse personal property tax with tag fees.

That’s good but they’ll just raise taxes some other way

That's fine by me. Property taxes are insane in FL. I'll gladly pay a higher sales tax. My property taxes last year with homestead exemption was 12k

Where the heck do you live and what kind of house do you have?! I am in SWFL and pay 6-6.5% sales tax and ~$4K in property tax.

Property taxes should be reduced for people over age 65.

You don’t know bullshite until you experience the taxation of metropolitan Texas.

Property taxes (school tax) & MUD taxes are unbelievable. Higher than California believe it or not.

I had major sticker shock when I got slapped with it and strongly considered leaving. It makes you really question if this place is worth living in.
