Yep, too many times. Then we divorced.

Sounds like an exercise in futility.

Yes, and it's maddening. Obviously not all women are illogical blah blah, but anyone in a manic state is a brick wall emotionally, and trying to fight through that is impossible.

I'm bookmarking this thread so I can read the replies out loud to my wife next time she has a manic episode. I think it's fair that she gets to choose which response I should go with.

She was calming down and I asked if she was finished with her little fit and if she’d like to apologize for her behavior.
She’s mad again.
I’ve decided I’m just going to play this game l day.

Haha. This is awesome. Why not pour gasoline and light it.

Never what ever you do start agreeing with her when she is mad. That will only make her more angry.

It does not matter how much logic you use or what you say, because the next words out of her mouth will be "It's not what you say, it's HOW YOU SAY IT!"

This is what I do. Except I’ll stare at her midsection or legs. I used to do it to remind myself why I put up with her but she started asking “what do I look fat” and I learned it actually takes her mind off whatever she was mad about. So I don’t say yes or no. Just shrug

You are just as bad. Jesus some of you people are just fricking stupid.

You probably haven't told her she looks fat often enough and she feels unloved. Try reminding her that everything is her fault and you could do better.
Then just drink a beer while you wait for her to finish crying and apologize.

Example of futility in the dictionary

I’m the type who doesn’t take shite from anyone including my wife. When she has an episode and irrationally attacks me I basically embarrass her by quickly and succinctly pointing out how retarded everything she says is. Of course that escalates the situation but I can’t help it.
It’s easy for me in this moment to think “next time I will just be quiet and walk away,” but every time I find myself in that situation something else in me takes over.

I asked her if she thinks she’ll age as well as her mom

Tell her, "You shouldn't drink so much."
