Small towns with no medical care would be an issue, but I imagine you could get the doctors to come to you.

Cenla - I wasn't arguing for me. I would have had to do a "Full Disclosure" if I lived in BR and was trying to argue for New Orleans and Lafayette, but I strongly believe that my way is about as right as you can get it.
"Your Town = approximately a 1 hour ground or sea commute." - that eliminates strange situations like flying from L.A. to the Bay Area, allows folks to live on a tiny island with a mainland town nearby, and does not require an analysis of whether "Town = New Orleans if in Grand Isle, but not Grand Isle if in New Orleans, etc."
But, I would be stuck with Marksville, Leesville, Alexandria, Pineville, Colfax, Natchitoches, Opelousas, area - which is quite large, geographically, but not particularly diverse or exciting. And I'd still take the billion. Alexandria would be hopping with my investments.

Well - I would actively management my investments and businesses. I would have more time to exercise, spend time with children, grandchildren, play music, boat, fish, swim, just have a grand old time.

I can't travel at all or I can't live anywhere else?
Baton Rouge would still be sucky with $1 billion, but it would suck a lot less.

Yea I'd have to live in a place that I'm comfortable with NEVER EVER leaving for any reason for the rest of my life. There's not that many places out there like that imo.
If I lived in Amite, Louisiana and I had a billion dollars I would wager that I would have a shittier life than the millionaire Amite resident that can leave that shithole whenever he so desires.

My family loves me too much to go on trips and vacations without me, I wouldn't want to deprive them of that.
