Should have taken more back then...not that it’s worse now, just different.

If I could go back, I would take 6-12 months off between the end of college and career. Do a hike through of the PCT and get away from life for a while.

For me it was hiking the A.T. about 14 years into my career. I was able to do so because I had saved and invested.

People will laugh, but during my last two job interviews I got more comments about having hiked the A.T. than I did about having a masters in management. It is why I asked if he had a job lined up. It would be a tough year to hike though with hostiles along the trails closed. I expect it would be harder to get hitches into town as well.

I would pack up my game and head out west, where real women come equipped with scripts and fake breasts

Find a nest in the hills, chill like flynt

Buy an old drop-top, find a spot to pimp

Buy a yacht with a flag sayin' "chillin' the most", then rock that bitch up and down the coast

Give a toast to the sun, drink with the stars, get thrown in the mix and get tossed outta bars

Start an escort service for all the right reasons and set up shop at the top of Four Seasons

Living with your parents and mooching off them while you work a good entry level job is one of the best ways to get a financial head start in life. Pay off your debts, build an emergency fund and save for a down payment on a starter home while your peers are living the "fake it till you make" trap in the big city. Having your financial affairs in order and saving for retirement while still in your 20s is a huge advantage.

Become an engineer - companies often hire engineering graduates for engineering positions.

Interesting choice...

I really want to go to Switzerland but maybe I could make that trip when I'm a little older. Thailand is probably better while I'm young.

You are probably smarter and more disciplined than 95% of the OT.

Start paying into TAF. Who knows, one day you might merit some decent seats.

I would have explored more jobs out of state and not let my doomed relationship with my future ex-wife influence my career path.

When you get out of undergrad, you have 3 paths:
1. Get more education
2. Get more experience
3. Get more fun

Since you received an engineering degree, you don’t really need more education unless you want to be a professor, you want to do research, you want to be a patent troll, or you want an MBA. I don’t recommend going back to school as long as you have decent job opportunities.

If you have job opportunities, the biggest question should be where do you want to be? Remember, these aren’t going to be permanent choices. Jobs in engineering are often somewhat nomadic as companies force you to periodically relocate in order to move up the chain. Try to find a job somewhere you’d like to experience living, knowing that in a few years, if you don’t like it, you’ll have ample opportunities to try living other places.

Covid sucks. Everything fun is closed. This is not the time to go backpacking through Europe, performing mission work in the 3rd world, or camping for months in the American West (assuming you’re one of those privileged kids whose parents would bankroll such activities). Fun tourism jobs like working on a cruise ship or at a ski lodge probably aren’t going to be available, so my advice is dive deep into making money and worry about little else for now.

Dump whatever girlfriend you have. Leave Louisiana. Take the best job offer in the largest city you can. Get a CC where you can accrue airline miles. And don’t fall in love with the 1st piece of arse you get. Have fun.

This is pretty solid. The only thing I might add would be to set up a personal retirement account outside of your employers retirement and put as much as you can stand in it.
