My advice is to start drinking heavily

Yeah, great time for that to happen if you got a couple months of fat to burn.

Years ago, I got laid off the week that my kid was born. The amount of stress was insane but it all worked out.

Not all is lost. There are a lot of prospects out there and just start looking both online and networking with friends. Quite a few years ago, I was out of work for about 2 months, ended up doing something not related to what I was doing and it was the best move I made. All will work out for ya!

Guess it’s about time for you to start living in a van down by the river.

You'll be alright man
I'm still living the unemployed life and while I'm ready to go back to work, this break has been a nice change from the grind.
Pieces of advice-
1. The interview process is terrible now. If you find a recruiter/hiring manager that wants to work with you and actually returns calls or gives you updates, call that a plus.
2. Don't get deadset on a single job you apply for. Recently ran into what I thought was the perfect job where I went through 3 interviews (including an onsite interview) then got told no. Felt pretty demoralized last week, but realized over the weekend it wasn't meant to be.
3. Enjoy the time off. Find things to keep you busy whether it's working out, hiking, new netflix series (just found the show called Nailed It and it made me feel a lot better
). If you haven't caught up with old friends or family, now is the perfect time to do it
ETA: TD needs a job board. Pretty sure people on here like the post above could cover all of us that are unemployed and looking.

What does yaboi do for a living?

Hell yeah, three day weekend!

Treat your job search like a job until you land a new one. If you are on Linkedin, let it be known you are looking for a new opportunity and be clear about what you are looking to do. Best of luck!

"The world needs ditch diggers too."
just kidding.
Sorry for your misfortune. But don't get depressed. Always a good job available for a strong mind with initiative. Take a few weeks off and enjoy the sabbatical. You'll find the right job.

As some have said a good time to reflect and move forward. I went through two layoffs in my career and benefited from both.
Head up boi you’ll get by this and be better for it.

I think we have a developer opening in BR. It's mostly remote though.
OP, email me at username@yahoo.com if you are interested in me sending you the link. It might take me a minute to get into that damn Yahoo account though so let me know if you do

Like someone else said - go drink some beers and watch LSU
I was laid off in April. Was a bit of a shock at first, but it turned out to be a blessing. I got a decent severance (while the rest of my team got a shitty bonus) and was given the opportunity to do what I wanted.
Take a week to chill and decompress. Get your resume in order. If you had any corporate recruiters in your Linkedin inbox, hit up every single one of them and let them know you're looking. They don't care if you ignored them or told them no - you represent potential income to them and they will help.
Start networking with old colleagues, people you know, and people your friends know -- set up and take every phone call/coffee/breakfast/lunch.
Be patient. I had a ton of interviews the first few weeks and it seems like it almost shut off.
this - I had a fantastic opportunity and thought I killed the second round interview. a week later I got an email that I wasn't selected to move forward. Phuck em.
