I had a '79 way back in the day, not long out of high school. Loved that car. Probably the favorite car I've ever had, other than maybe a really sweet early 90's Grand Prix my wife and I had when we were first married. And I've owned all kinds including expensive foreign ones.

That Lincoln was a beautiful car. Nice, elegant lines.

The third and cougar were both rear wheel drive cars and still distinctive looking when cars were starting to look alike. They also had a supercharger version if I remember correctly. I installed an alpine receiver and Boston acoustic speakers in mine. Beethoven never sounded so good.

I drove a 96 Mercury Sable in High School. That sucker could fly. I'd get it up to 120 on the interstate without even trying. I almost put that sucker in a bayou more than a few times. Unfortunately, when the catalytic converter went out, my dad decided that replacing it would cost more than the car was worth, so he sold it. I really loved that car.

Dated a girl whos dad had brand-new tbird from that era. He asked me if I wanted to drive it.
It drove great.

Not at 198.7 inches. The longest two doors were the 79 Lincoln Mark V at 233.0 inches in length and the 1972 Mark IV at 228.1.

My 69 Chrysler 300 is in the top tne of lang barges at 224.7 inches - 6/10 of an inch longer than the El Dorado convertible. Both convertibles had a full sized trunk plus the full space for stowage of the top (usually, some of the trunk room in a convertible is consumed by top storage).

The cars are wide too and the leg room is incredible.

My mom had this beast. I remember we spun out in it once. That’s all I got.

You put the cam and exhaust in from the fox body and you had a fun car.

I have a 70 XR7 I'm building right now. Love the older Cougars before they became 2dr ltds. The 80s and 90s models shared the same chassis as the Mustangs.
