Bill Elder was one of my icons that I grew up watching the Noon news.

But here is a funny clip where he gets into one of the other members of the press for sitting on his TV set.

Bill Elder Fight during Police Strike

If you listen to the audio carefully, one of the reporters is talking as though the station had come to her live shot as Bill going into person on the the TV, then as though a switch went of in his head, he collects his composure to lead right into the press conference.

Here are some other throwbacks of the glory days of New Orleans TV through bloopers posted on YouTube be careful some language NSFW:

If you think Nola news is bad, I’ve got news for you…Houston is god awful, their goal is to patronize Hispanic anchors and obese 13%ers who read off iphones for basic info and who always look like a public access station amateurs.

The one exception is Dominique Sasche who is fine as hell and is a good anchor

When they tell them they have to move to NOLA, any decent prospects are like “I’m out.”

Lost a few points when she married Travers Mackel from WDSU.

A typical Phil Johnson opinion:

The sun is shining today. This is good. Good evening.

He was all about the delivery but very short on riveting content.

I remember my grandad saying of Phil Johnson, "I find him a little bit pompous."

No way, for real?

I loved how Phil used to sign the script of his monologue after he read it.

Bill was a really good person, who did get offers to move to the CBS national news team. He declined to stay in NO and be with his family. I went to college with his son, who was nowhere near the person that his dad was.

Thanks for posting those old bloopers. Especially the WWL ones from the 80’s. Seeing those old reporters brought back memories from some great times.

When I played with the Gutter Sharks, we were on the WWL morning show with Eric Paulson and Andrea Travigne. It was a great experience. I have video of it, just have to figure out how to get it on here.
