Basically the hardware itself has unique identifiers to tie data communications it to a single device. Unless he had planned this out to spoof it, he basically thought he wouldn't get caught having the tweet traced back to his phone.

If the timestamps on the trace match the phone/switch and the video of the office he stays, it would be hard for me to say he did not do it.

Don't worry. The sober ones don't have a clue on the first day of organic, either.
My organic professor wore Grateful Dead T-shirts, Birkenstocks, and black socks EVERY day to lecture. When he walked in the room dressed like that, we knew we were boned. You dress like that as a professor and you know your shite inside and out so well that you just don't give a frick.
The class average was a 35.
