You mad bro? It’s probably the traffic you sit in commuting along with the precious time you’re missing with your family. WFH is pretty badass actually. Wife & I WFH on the Northshore and when people bitch about the traffic we don’t even know what to say bc we never see it. As a matter of fact, when I go for my jog at lunchtime in our upper middle class neighborhood it seems like most folks are WFH. Must be the poors clogging up the roadways.

Reading that article is just proof that the more things change, the more they stay the same.
You can find dozens or articles just like that one with different players involved but some very familiar .
Pay attention to the names and then look at how long guys like Marty dean have been on the council and you’ll see how things have gotten the way they are.

My employer is fully remote for engineers and their managers, but I still go in on most days. Something about WFH depresses me.

I have to think that the corporate drone commuting back and forth from M’ville to NOLA as it’s been for the last 30 or 40 yrs has got to be fairly rare nowadays
Ehh this might be true to some extent, but I don't think it's the norm. I know a ton of people who commute across the lake for work, a lot of them are in their 30's-40's.. all white collar jobs. Now that being said, WFH is way more prevalent than it was before the pandemic.
Regarding the thread subject, I honestly cannot think of a better place to raise a family in South Louisiana other than the Northshore.. or maybe Lafayette.

Well said .
I realize that not everyone is a fan of WFH, different strokes.. but what i dont understand is people who actively put down those of us who prefer the WFH lifestyle, as if we are somehow the reclusive, anti-social types who are dragging society down.. Newsflash: Not all of us get our social interaction from the workplace.. Some of us despise office politics , and water-cooler BS…. I can just as easily put down those who ‘miss going to the office’ as hopelessly out of date, and rigidly old-school in their mentality.. but i dont do that, b/c if there is a need ever for people to go into the office- I’d much rather leave it to the folks who love to do it, rather than going to the office myself .. im just a little mad b/c ive been working mostly remote for the past 15 yrs and i miss having the roads and stores and gyms to myself between 10am and 3pm , ever since the start of the pandemic .

I voted against Marty Dean everytime I could. The strange thing is he keeps getting elected even though no one says that voted for him.

Reviving this thread.
Is there an executed ordinance in effect today crippling residential development in St. Tammany?
Every city with decent schools in the entire sunbelt region is facing the same infrastructure issues yet without a moratorium. Instead these municipalities/counties embrace impact fees developers pay prior to permits being pulled.
Leave it to corrupt Louisiana to be part of the problem and not the solution.
The solution is utilizing land effectively. Some posters claimed that one acre lot minimums is the answer but that clearly shows an elementary understanding of development and zoning.

Not a Northshore resident but I'm there frequently. It seems to me with the number of waterways any significant road expansion will be exceedingly difficult. The drainage issues look insurmountable too but ill leave that to the engineers.

I have been to the north shore (excluding Slidell) maybe three times in my life.
Why would anyone want to live there? You get none of the NOLA advantages (close to everything, restaurants, bars, etc) but all of the disadvantages of Louisiana (hurricanes, taxes, corruption etc)
You also now have to commute at least an hour at $6 a pop.
And to everyone claiming “muh crime,” bad stuff happens in Covington all the time. It’s really no better.

THIS. Every development in STT that is unwanted is pushed through by Jeff Schoen and Jones Fussell.

That ship sailed a long time ago. I have friends who moved there years ago thinking they were moving to the country. Not anymore.

One nonsensical thing with the I-12 widening is the West onramp from North and South Hwy 190. It's a chokepoint that should have been widened and allowed for two onramps onto westbound I-12. The backup it creates goes all the way to damn near the lake. I can't believe this wasn't addresses. It was a problem long before the interstate was widened.

The issue here is the number of complete idiots that have no concept of how to merge onto an interstate. The added lane all the way across the bridge to Pinnacle should be used as an accelerating lane in lieu of wide open highway.
There is no reason why one is not doing 75mph minimum when they hit the bridge West bound.
It blows my mind daily at the vehicles merging onto 12 with four wide arse open lanes doing 35mph. This is what causes the bottleneck.
