The OT's favorite Biergarten owner, Carey McCue, has finally decided to shut down after being sued by former employees and business partner and going on anti-conservative political rants.

According to McCue, Lafayette's weather made it impossible to stay open.
"The Wurst Biergarten was an outdoor beer garden from inception to the end," McCue said. "And y'all's weather is just too extreme. It's just too extreme."

It has been closed for weeks. It was closed weeks before Christmas IIRC. We went to lunch at Pop's and walked downtown and saw it was closed up.

Was a great spot a few years ago, but it took a nosedive in the quality of atmosphere and it had nothing to do with the weather, at least for me. Once Lafayette Comedy stopped running shows there, I really didn't have any incentive to go back.

Sure, blame the weather, not the fact that you were selling $10 16oz beers and dependent on other businesses to sell food.

Why go to a biergarten when everyone has a truck with an ice chest?

Even longer than that, I first noticed it was closed back in November, according to the article they closed October 29th.

The place was really cool when it first opened, too bad it was ran by a moron.

Is there weather more extreme in Laffy than Nola? It always seems like laffy is a safe zone during hurricanes.

The outdoor bars work in nola, even with hurricanes, extreme heat and termite swarms.

I actually remember being on a patio bar during a termite swarm and I covered my glass with my hand and these out-of-towners were like, what kind of bugs are these?

F this guy. Go re-open your open aired hipster bar in Minnesota and try to make all your money in 6 months out of the year.

No, his bar is just run by the typical limp wristed, incompetent, liberal man.

He "supposedly" did some dubious things with his business partner and employee's money. Also "supposedly" allowed sexual predators to hang out there.

No thank you.

Although it is a balmy 33 degrees here today. I could use an outdoor beer garden.

Every time I've been to the Bayou biergarten in New Orleans or Mid-city in BR they've been packed. Cold, hot, whatever. Tough shite, McCue.

I've lived in Lafayette,Dallas, Houston, Baton Rouge and New Orleans and his biergarten is the only one I've seen fail.

He's just an incompetent dork that blames all of personal shortcomings on other people.

This is what I didn’t understand either. Paying $10 for a local beer on tap ran me off. That was when it first opened before all of this inflation

That dude worked hard to run that joint into the ground. He earned it.
