Have you seen the new Landcruiser? It looks like a bitch mobile.

It's just the Prado that every other market gets (we call it the Lexus GX). Still, the FJ80 weeps that such a pussified vehicle gets to share the name.

Every manufacturer changed their midsize SUV from a truck wheel base to a car wheel base.

Ford
Chevrolet
Nissan
Toyota
Mazda
Honda

It's what the market wanted. An SUV with a tiny 3rd row that drove like a car so mom's could pretend they weren't driving a minivan full of kids.

I had an 87 with offset rims and mudders. That was a badass little vehicle, I wish I hadnt been young and destructive.

For the past 20 years it should have been called Groceryfinder because it looks like the vehicle mom drives to the supermarket

No CVT in the newer Pathfinders

Extra sound deadening.

Quiet smooth ride on decent roads. Yep, hard to find !!!!

There was a 2 door for sale nearby in spring tx like in that 1st pic. I was out of town when someone sent me a Pic of it and it sold before I got back. It had 46k original miles 4x4 and clean interior. They were asking 9k. I was gonna buy it. It did have the burgundy interior which is pretty bad

Someone works on Barrow St. here in Houma that has an old Jeep Cherokee that has a lift on it. Pretty sure its the same color and model as the one the Fratellis had on The Goonies. Pretty sweet!

4Runner is still a body-on-frame chassis.

I owned a '96 Pathfinder 4x4 with a 5-speed manual and I regret ever letting it go. The 96 was the second-gen which switched to a unibody structure, but it was still a serious truck. Real low-range, the whole 9 yards. Only issues I ever had was the knock sensor failing (easy workaround via the internet) and a coolant tube that ran through the valley under the intake that blew out. Also, changing the spark plugs and the valve cover gasket on the driver's side was a huge pain due to the placement of the intake. (had to come off) Looked like this:

What really sank Nissan was 2 things: Carlos Ghosn becoming CEO in 2001, and the "alliance" with Renault (1999, when Ghosn became COO) and Mitsubishi. (2016) While the alliance saved Nissan from bankruptcy, the juice wasn't worth the squeeze in the long run. Ghosn basically turned Nissan into an ATM to prop up Renault, enriching himself via French investments in the process, and thus Nissan became the standard rental car/ buy here-pay here car lot staple and the derided jellybean of a Pathfinder. Infiniti also lost its way around the same time, adopting a weird naming structure for their models and not developing new platforms.

Japanese authorities ended up arresting him and he fled the country in a musical instrument case like something out of an old movie. They're making their way out of the wilderness now, but are still in financial trouble. Bring back the XTerra!

The only thing I wish to contribute to this thread is that the CVT sucks,

Now comes standard with a 9 speed auto.

yeah, they released the Highlander on the unibody frame and now how 2 separate offerings. So, not all of them changed the existing model.
